Overdosed alk should I just let it lower over time?

Daily rate has been around .6 dkh but I think that has been slightly increasing. Btw measured it this morning and down to 9.2dkh. So figure be at 8.9 ish by later today. I guess that brings up another question on rapid rise. How long in a rapid increase will or does it effect corals? This would have settled back down in a day and half. Does it need to be high for days or even a hour rise will impact them. Just curious!

They are living organisms. It is impossible to say. Some will be very temperate while others may be affected. Think of you getting a common cold...sometimes it is a runny nose..other times it knocks you on your butt. Too many variables to give a simply binary yes or no answer. You have a living ecosystem that responds in different ways.

In a generality...a simple, moderate one or two day spike probably is not going to significantly negatively affect on average although you might catch a coral on a 'bad day' and thus lose it.

FWIW i find upward swing to be less detrimental than a downward one (within reason). Agree with others to let alone and leave it address on its own.

Usually not too harmful if the corals are healthy and thriving but can be worse if the corals are just hanging on
