I have a recirculating CO2 scrubber hooked up to my skimmer. I’m interested in adding ozone to my tank as well. Is there a way to add them both to same skimmer? Is there another way to accomplish both without adding a second skimmer?

I have a question. Since ozone beats the crap out of skimmers, how does it impact an acrylic sump and the tank itself? I was thinking about adding an ozone generator, but now I am thinking twice.

I have the RO Elite 150 SSS and bought the fish of Hex lid adapter to make it into a recirculating scrubber.

I also have a RO Regal 150 SSS that was sent to me in error with it that I’ve been trying to sell. I think it has 2 ports on the silencer. I’m having microbubble issues with the elite so I might try to swap

If I T the line does it negate the recirculating part of the scrubber?
It won’t negate it. It will change it slightly though. There will be a certain percentage of non-scrubbed air introduced but the ratio should still be in your favor

Ah, won’t work for the SSS. Here is what I was doing for my INT. The second picture shows the ozone port for Elite’s 150/200/220 INT.

It will only degrade with certain plastics it comes in direct contact with. Ozone will only last a few seconds in seawater, so your sump should be fine.

Can you explain a little more? I’m a bit confused. The ozone won’t work at all with my skimmer? Or T won’t work?

I was only referring to the extra part for the ozone adapter. The “T” idea should be fine but I don’t know much about re-circulating. Not for nothing, but I’ve read that using a dedicated skimmer for ozone is preferred (although I don’t have the space for that)

Yea I don’t have space either. Would the regal 150 sss work better?

If you’re going to go the route of a dedicated skimmer why not just get an ozone reactor instead? They are far more effective than a skimmer as a reaction chamber and I know the avast marine one has a chamber for carbon to strip any remnants of ozone before water is released

Space is limited in my tank

I think you should just splice into the line feeding your skimmer.

No matter what you do to incorporate the ozone whether that be your existing skimmer, an ozone reactor or a dedicated skimmer you’re doing the same thing - introducing non scrubbed air into your water. That’s ok. Don’t over think it. You could splice it into the recirc line so that the ozone has to pass through the scrubber before entering your skimmer but I believe ozone is know to degrade CO2 media quite quickly, however I might be wrong

Recommended read here as I think this is similar to what you’re looking to do

Thanks!

I finally got my ozone generator.

My skimmer has a scrubber lid on it that has no vent holes to recirculate the air.

Most instructions I’m seeing say to put a bag carbon on the top of the lid. If there’s no vent holes, do I need the carbon?
