I see articles like this and it gets me to wondering how something like this happens. There is usually more to the story than you get when you read it.

I suppose Palytoxin poisoning is possible in the hobby. But I find it hard to believe that the Palys got so stressed that they released enough toxin to do this without it being subjected to something more stressful than relocation.

That article is sooooooo bad!!!! Their motto is "don't buy corals" lame!!!!! They are all dangerous!!!! Some food is dangerous because you might be allergic to it so my motto is dont buy food people it can kill you.... In fact don't even go outside its dangerous out there!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH WHY IS EVERYTHING SOOOOO scary

Neither do I. I buy something I research the crap out of things (except my Butterflyfish, never again). You read all over the interwebs about Paly and zoas being toxic. Where has she been hanging out?

If you read the caption under the second photo of the ugly brown palys, she 'felt a small piece of this Zoanthid coral break under her thumb.'

She squished a toxic species under her bare hands. No kidding she got sick.

I'd bet that it was an established colony which grew over several rocks over time. She probably ripped to separate the pieces instead of properly fraging the colony.

These are the “zoas” from her tank. The super ugly brown palys no one buys that are the most common palytoxiner. Everyone and their brother knows these are a big no no.
