Just curious does anyone use a pan world external pump? For anything really, I’m currently using one as my pump for my mixing station.

But I’ve noticed mine it’s hot, I can touch it and keep my hand on it for about 5-10seconds then it’s too much. Other than that it’s quiet and I like it, just want to be sure it being quite warm is normal.

Depends on the model. I run a bunch of them. Smaller models are hot to the touch because they are convection cooled. Larger models are cooler to the touch because they are fan cooled. Excellent pumps.

I thought they werent supposed to heat the water because the motor is outside of the water?

Heat transfer through the metal case. Basically an Iwaki knock off made by a former employee & a good pump.

bullet proof pumps. They're mag drive, external to the water, so you'd be hard pressed to convince me that they add appreciable heat to the water other than the heat of compression itself.

Yes my thoughts exactly. Not only that but the fact that there is no electricity in the tank is a bonus! Every submersible pump ive owned ends up in the garbage due to water getting in the electronics or the power cord rips or opens near the motor.

PW pumps can be hot to the touch, but I don’t find they add much heat to the tank water directly. In an enclosed cabinet, increased air temp will transfer though.

It’s been running a solid week now dead silent. I have it screwed into a block of wood in my basement running my mixing station. Only complaint is the short power cord.

I run 2 on my system. My main circulation pump is a 150PS and my skimmer pump is a 100-PX-X. Both are bullet proof. I love them. Both are quiet and just run.

All I know is that my Pan World 150PS on my salt water mixing station, with no other heater will raise my 100 gal mixing tank temp to 85 degrees. The pump is hot to touch, and I wouldn't describe the pump as quiet. The pump isn't used a lot, just to mix saltwater. So maybe it's on for a few days at a time.

I have an iwaki pump as my return and it’s always pretty warm. Seems that pan world runs hotter than the iwaki but it is a clear replica. Nothing to worry about tho. And I went with iwaki over pan world because I had heard that they were a little noisier than iwaki....

I noticed that BRS doesn’t list them anymore. Not sure what happened, perhaps ask them. Champion carries blueline, which is just a rebadged PanWorld, though even they don’t have all models in stock. Perhaps PW has closed its doors.
