I ordered one figured whats 14 dollars in the name of "SCIENCE"! I just need numbers in the ball park to know what my light is doing.

ok I didnt do every spot as i did with the Apogee. got tired of sticking hand in water and I think i got enough readings to feel sure it was consistent.
This was set in M mode to 20,000 since the numbers never went higher than that and it was the only way I could get it to keep reading. If I put it in max mode as soon as it hit a number for a few seconds it would lock it and have to turn on and off to read again. Divided by 30 and this is the results.
The red numbers are the Apogee and the green are the cheap LUX meter

I wonder if the number to divide by is the same among different lighting types? As in metal halide versus led versus t5. I have a lux meter but have never stuck it in a bag to submerge it.

Well dividing by 30 did get me a number closer to what i thought i had mathematically on my sand bed. Running 3 ai primes 36” long and 16” deep get 150 par using the ab+ schedule from brs.

Surprised how accurate it is tbh, i knew would get you in the ball park.

Now if there was a cheap way to test spectrum [emoji23]

Could you provide more info on the use of the lux meter? What brand was it and did you find how you hold it varied the reading?

Sorry about asking where to get meter. I just read your previous post and have ordered the meter. Still would like to know of any problems you may have had getting the reading or any technical issues you may have had. Thanks
