Hello.

I have 2 radion x15 pro g6 and I’m looking for par ratings at 100% on schedule and intensity for 8-10” mounted about the tank.
My tank is 120g at 24” deep. I’m running the ab+ schedule at 65% schedule at the moment. No new algae growth but I want to find what the actual par ratings are for 2 lights as I don’t have a par meter myself. I’m planning to have a mixed tank leaning to sps dominant and running kz for dosing. ULN system only 6 months old. Any help on the lighting much would be appreciated.

2 xr15 is not enough for a 120g. BRS has videos that show par readings.

No way 2 of those lights are enough for SPS. Maybe 4 would work but 3 XR30s are better. I run 2 XR15s on my 65g DT and at 100% intensity I barely get 350par just below the water line. Mine are gen 5 with diffusers. They are weak lights.

Ok I’ll have to get a couple more before I put sps in the tank
I was actually shocked when I finally par checked mine at 70% intensity. It was like 150 at the top of a 22 inch deep tank and like 30 on the sandbed. I slowly cranked up to 100% intensity and am able to grow SPS at the top but I can tell a few acros still need more light then I have. There are quite a few video with nice 125g tanks and 4 radion lights though.

IM 25 Lagoon, single G6 XR15 Blue. Has better light spread than previous gen, and is growing sps like crazy. At 12 inch below water surface the par is 150 with only 45% schedule intensity using default AB+ schedule, and that spread is 20” radius on the bed.

I would use at least three XR15 on a 125. And, from what I heard from Reef Therapy, two XR15 spread a couple inches apart make better par than a single XR30.

More xr15s are better than less xr30s

Better for coverage but not par / depth.

Xr15 has a high drop off once you start measuring in deeper tanks

People do it but they are spacing them every 12-16 inches and usually also supplementing them with led bars or t5

That problem is solved with the high intensity lens kit.

Each XR15 is covering 24*18 with plenty of PAR for anything I wanted. The AI Blade wasn’t needed but I left it installed since it was already there. Its main use was for a cool 15 minute super actinic violet look.

2 XR15s are better than 1 XR30 if you need a little more spread. This has been proven many times

It's a 2 year old thread but I'll give you a reply. XR15 lights are a weak soup sandwich for par. If you notice my post, I said 3 XR30 lights (not 2) are better then 4 XR15 lights. This is quite obvious 6 dome bulbs versus 4 domes. As the previous poster mentioned, tank depth plays an important role in lights and par. Also coral choices make a difference. Now ecotech recognized the deficiency in gen 5 and earlier models and improved spread with gen 6 models and the different lens options give better par but less spread. Basically each tank is unique and a reefer has to determine what works best in their set up. I can grow stuff with my 2 XR15 lights but they are at 100% and produce barely enough par needed for my 22 inch deep tank. XR 30s would have been much better for my tank

Interesting because I have 2 xr15g6 pros with high intensity lenses and I grow everything under the sun. Tank is 48x18x25

18 inch deep is fairly shallow and XR15 especially gen 6 models can work at that depth. My tank is 22 deep. My par numbers were ridiculously low with the gen 5 lights and corals struggled. At 100% I can get reasonable numbers but not high enough par in full tank coverage for everything I would like to have.

18 inches is front to back tank is 25 tall but with my rock work corals are only at around 19 inches down. Like I said before the high intensity lens kit for the g6 makes a huge difference. It tells you right there the increase you will see

My tank above is 22” tall and I had 170-200 PAR on the sand and didn’t run at 100%. Radions provide plenty of PAR. It’s literally beating a dead horse at this point. There are hundreds and hundreds of tanks running them growing every coral out there.
