Par rating for x15 G6 Pro

My tank above is 22” tall and I had 170-200 PAR on the sand and didn’t run at 100%. Radions provide plenty of PAR. It’s literally beating a dead horse at this point. There are hundreds and hundreds of tanks running them growing every coral out there.

Nah, even more threads about how weak radions are. But true if you run enough of them and overlap everywhere in the tank you can make them work. Then only your wallet will be sad not your corals.

That was your post a few months back selling all your gen 6 lights right?

Is this a fairly new tank? Looks like basically all frags so not sure how you can actually gauge light success yet. Maybe at the one year mark if things are flourishing colonies but a frag can look ok for many months and then die off due to lighting or other factors. In my case early on I determined it was lightning. I ran at 50% to 70% and coral struggled. Now at 100% they flourish.

Interesting because I have 2 xr15g6 pros with high intensity lenses and I grow everything under the sun. Tank is 48x18x25

I'm sorry but I'm not sure that would be considered everything under the sun lol

No point in trying to use facts with this crowd. I showed a 2 year old tank growing every type of coral and they still want to argue because MoRe PaR mOrE bEtTeR!!!!

So you used them incorrectly and then blame the light?

It was a nice set up tank. How deep? Looks fairly shallow to me and I like the way you were able to hang the lights lower over the top of the water instead of the standard 8 inch RMS mounts coupled with the way you incorporated the AI lights with the XR15 lights. Yes combos can be much more effective. Thanks for demonstrating that.

Nah, went off internet par numbers for the set up. Never believe what others post on the internet right? When I got a par meter I discovered my problem. XR15 lights are soup sandwich par lights.

22” tall. Lights were 8” off the water. Once again, the Blade wasn’t used or needed for PAR. I would run it dusk/dawn in a super violet look for the fun of it. Reminded me of the old halide and VHO days.

My top acros were under 400 PAR just from the Radions alone. I could push it past 500 PAR if I cranked the Radions to 100% everything.

I added Blades to my G6 XR15s. I think if you aren't doing acropora then the XRs are fine. in my testing with the xrs mounted on the RMS mount, par was lower than I was expecting. 50-80 at the sand bed and 150-200 at the top of my rock work I ended up lowering my XRs 1 inch using longer screws on the RMS mount and that increased the par 100-120 sand bed and 200-250 at the top of my rock work. If I went lower par increased. I left it at 1 inch lower because I was also running a 39 inch blade with them which gave me the par levels I wanted. I think for higher light needs either more XRs or supplemental lighting is needed.

My tank has been running over a year (48"x24"x20" )with 2 XR15 G6s and a 39 inch Blade Grow. The Blade alone easily doubles the par I'm getting with the 2 XR15s. I recently added a smaller Blade to the back. XRs are at 70% intensity and the Blades at 65%
