6” would be like a spot light in a DT. Maybe frag tank if you had enough of them spread out to squeeze out every par, but agreed not practical.

There is a big difference between 90 degree tir lenses and 120+ degree lensing, not to mention more spread deeper.
But yea 6" would need to be proven.
It is theoretical.

Honest question, why are g6 users so hesitant to boost up the white channels for more par? Is it the loss of the blue look? Do they find a more white spectrum damaging to the coral or something else?

I have g5 but my whites are almost 100%. I think its an aesthetic thing. As i have great growth with my sps

I actually like the look of the pros at 100% on all channels. Its actually pretty close to 12500 kelvin if you compare it to the kelvin slider on Mobius. The 14000k looks the best to me. You do lose some coral flouresence, but gain back coralline coloration thats washed out with the AB+ template.

I think some people on here are also forgetting that the only full spectrum lighting on LEDS are the white channels. This is why I chose the pro. The blues, violet, red, and green are light peaks on the spectrum and contribute to how the corals flourese and chlorophyll needs, but not to the overall "healthiness" of the lighting.

I run 4 gen 5 xr16 Blue on my 80.
Around 300 par 6" down. I run full ab+ 100/100.
I added a quanta bar and picked up 100 par across the tank.
Plenty of growth and color.
200 par at the rack 12.5" down.

Just shows the imortance of choosing the right version of the light - Running a pro at 100% intensity is never going to get you 100% of the par you thought because nobody will run white, red and green channels at 100% - AB+ does not run those channels at 100% - The blue was desinged to aid AB+ users and using a true 100% - Your literally removing some of its capability be using a pro on AB+.

A blue was designed to be run fully at 100% on all channels to give you AB+ and i imagine intensity too - hence greater par.

I see much better PAR readings from blues than pros and its pretty obvious why.

High intensity lens kit for the g6 fixes this! Not sure if you want to call it a problem I run 2xr15g6 pros with high intensity lens kit bam done no problems I don’t measure par just watch how your animals respond. I’ve been in the hobby for about 15 years never used a par meter there’s really no need.
