Paul's 40 Gallon Reef

Are these Paly's? How do you keep them from spreading to far or have you had to worry about that yet? I really like them and love the Blenny!

They are zoas. They have no where else to go except across the sand bed. Above l are more zoas but the light is alittle intense for any zoas above them. Thank you!

So its been a while since I have updated on here. I lost my orange spotted blenny to my mini-maxi anemone. I also caught and removed my 8-line wrasse because of bullying. I also got red of one of my red acans and my red trachy and picked up a Potter's angel. Everyone is getting along great, no coral nipping observed from the angel. I had some sort of an outbreak of brown/reddish substance on my sandbed and rocks a while back and the only thing I found off was my pH was staying low (7.8). I have been working on adjusting that as well as water changes and things are looking better. Some of the corals still don't look their best. A lot of SPS have browned out just a little and about 60% of my zoas are not happy. Things are shaping up slowly but surely. Here are a few photos of some things.

My current favorite LPS in my tank. This blasto has been growing new heads and this pH drop has not affected is one bit, and I am glad.

My Mini-Maxi anemone munching on my Orange spotted Blenny. Not sure if it actually caught it or if something happened to the blenny. That nem is a very sticky one though not real big. You can also see some of what I was dealing with on the sandbed.

Looks great Paul! I love your tank!!! Sorry to hear about losing your Blenny, he was an awesome little fish. Will you try another?

Thanks! I dont really have any plans of getting another one. He was a cool fish though. I think the 3 fish I have now is good enough as long as everyone behaves. I would say I'm fully stocked on fish IMO.

I lost 4 fish to the two Maxi Mini's I had. 2 Blenny's a Mandarin and a Damsel. Be prepared, they regurgitate the skeleton [emoji13] IME the fish get spooked or are foraging for food and bump into the Nems, bye bye.
I too am dealing with brown/rust colored stuff on my SB. Going on 2yrs. [emoji35]

Yikes! I removed the fish, but he did disintegrate the head pretty good. He will have to do pretty good to get my wrasse or dottyback though!

Picked up some pretty cool pieces the other day! Got a nice green and pink/orange cyphastrea, and a fresh clipping of a really nice red/orange color psammocora (we first though it to be a setosa).

Unfortunately the cyphastrea frag bleached very quickly in my tank. It may come back, but im not sure. I have it in low lightlflow now. I did pick up a nice little frag of king midas zoas amd purple polup birdnest. I added another 15 lbs of sand to the tank and tweeked some rock and coral a bit today. Ill get some updated photos of the tank soon. Here are some of what I have taken and the tank currently (couldy still).

Looking good!

I had to frag my bonsai because it started loosing tissue and was spreading. I traded some frags of it in for this awesome orange branching psammacora that I was only able to get a tiny frag of before. I saved a piece of the bonsai, I really hope it starts doing better. Also picked up a small purple polyp birdsnest. Here are some photos.

Separated my green monti cap a little more from the main rock work. Plenty of room for them to fill in before hitting another coral now.
