I will most likely do it again, but maybe not so many at a time (shipping costs add up quick ;Wideyed). Luckily (depending how you look at it) I'm dealing with extremely high nitrates and phosphates, which means my chaeto is growing pretty quick. If he is anywhere near west central Florida, I'm sure I can arrange to get him some.

Ok so I did a pay it forward today( kinda I think this counts) . I was meeting up with a local reefer here in Houston, he was buying some corals his name is Ben. He has a beautiful prob 300 gal total system. He’s bought plenty of things from me. But so he has 2 sons that aren’t in to the hobby, I’m lucky and my dad is as well that I share the hobby with him, I’ve been in the hobby since 13 yrs old, I’m now 17 almost 18. And my dad and I just sat and talked with him for an hour talking reef. Mind you we were in a petco parking lot. But yea he’s a great guy and my dad and I are gonna try to talk with him at least twice a month to talk reef with him! I hope this counts toward pay it forward. I shared with him some knowledge on sps cuz he was having trouble with them. And yea. He’s a really nice guy!

Paying it forward can take many forms. Helping educate others and sharing your experiences to better our hobby certainly counts in my book! And someday, if I attempt to keep sps corals, I may be asking for your help too!

Ok awesome! Hey anytime. I’m still pretty young in the hobby, but I have surrounded my self in my local club with some hobbyists that have been it since my dad was my age, that’s a really long time! But I always love to share my knowledge and hope to learn more every day.

clm65, I've been a huge fan of the 'Pay It Forward' idea ever since I saw the movie. I wish this attitude and way of doing things would take off and become the norm rather than the exception. In fact, the primary reason I'm on the Reef Squad is to Pay It Forward! When I started in this hobby 15 years ago, a number of local people helped me along with how to navigate my way through this hobby/addiction, and this is my way of paying that help forward.

So I’ve received the chaeto I’m pretty sure it was delivered since Monday I just remembered about it last night Tuesday. It was all still alive, I washed it out a bit and put it my sump. And man their was a lot! Thank you @clm65! The pay it forward is an amazing deed to do.

Thanks for the feedback Lucas! I was getting worried that there was an issue with the way I shipped it, as I had not received any feedback from any of the recipients. And I did try to fit as much as I could into the quart baggie and small USPS box. I hope it grows like crazy for you!

Just gave 6 nice chunky frags to my neighbor across the street.
I've finally decided not to just toss the pieces of every acro or monti I prune back.
I'm not sure I'm paying it forward, I just enjoy doing stuff for people I like.

You still doing this? I volunteer at a local wildlife shelter periodically and will do it again soon
