Pentair or Aqua Ultra UV?

This may be over doing it, but lifeguard aquatics recommends you to plug the UV into a GFCI. I do not want to plug mine into the wall GFCI, because I want the UV to go into the "fallback mode" on the apex. Which got me to thinking that if something happened the UV, it may harm my EB832. I also needed a extension cord. So I bought a 10ft extension cord, and a GFCI outlet, and a outlet box. And I am making my own that I can plug into my apex. To protect it in the unfortunate event water shorts out my UV.

I dont know the capabilities of aquarium controllers but cant the Apex be set up to recognize a spike and shut of that specific outlet?
I bought a GHL P4. Not set up yet and dont know more than its basic functions yet.

I would think at the very least it would blow out the relay on the outlet for the EB832 But I really don't know. But I bought the parts including the cord for like $30. The Eb832 is like $250. I am thinking this is cheap insurance.

Yea, I know what you mean.

While I don't think it's a bad idea, I would thnk the same risk would be involved with any of the equipment exposed to the water. Heaters, pumps etc. If you were going to go that route you could use something like this,

I think the uv is more likely, especially since it relies on about 4 different seals. Seals that are all rubber, opposed to pumps or heaters that are factory sealed, but I see what you're saying.

That’s a good point.

I run two 40 watt pentairs on a 220 system, I really like them, they are huge! I also run a 15 watt Aqua UV on a 65 gallon. Again it’s great , UV works very well ime.

That's a beast! let me know how you end up plumbing it. That's what I'm trying to figure out most before I go ahead and get one I think. Goal for me is water clarity.

Edit: Does anybody have any opinions on the 24W green machine submersible UVs?

The green killing machines are clarifyers and not sterilizers, they absolutely work to clear water And make it look crystal clean but they stop there. Nothing wrong with that thought:)

You happen to have a photo how you've got your 65 gallon UV plumbed?

Running a leak test. I want to let it run for a few hours and see if it leaks. And then plug it and make sure it turns on. Than tomorrow will be the final install.

What is the length on the one that you have there? Just hooked up a temporary 24W green machine for now. Excited to see how effective it is in clearing my water before jumping into a more permanent one.

That's perfect. A little bit more compact than many. What pump are you fueling it with?
