Perry's 50Gallon AIO Waterbox Cube

Hey Matt,
All good, I know the reef life can bring unfortunate mishaps, mistakes made, on we move... Just so you guys do not think all is doom and gloom, here are some phone photos today of a few of my shrooms, which are doing quite well :)

Thanks Freddie!
Large water change today, old school on salt, using IO until I think the tank is SPS worthy, then I will likely switch to a salt with lower alk. No worries right now, changed 50% today and all LPS and shrooms puffed up nicely. I am adding Pro Bio S and NP Pro to help bring nutrients down, I will likely do this as the tank matures and rock is seeded. I will do 25% water changes as well weekly, then lower to 10% down the road. Thanks buddy, hope all is well!!! :)

All good over here, Perry

I did get Frontline Plus in the S-400 earlier in the year. I got in a rush and put my hands in the sump after we treated the dogs. It smoked my bta's... ;Dead, but all the corals were fine.

I know you'll get your display back and you've taught me more than you'll ever know.

:)

Hi Freddie!
Glad to hear things are humming along, sorry for the mistake with flea/worm dip, I can imagine that would be devastating, but again, that is life on the reef and we learn. Thank you for the kind words, I would like to think that experience is what perhaps I have been able to share. It is your intellectual mind that takes another's experience, dissects it, applies it, then creates a new experience. This new experience is learning, and that is what this hobby is truly all about. So often peoples experiences are true and valid, but quickly dismissed, as they might not fit into the conventional norm. You sir, have taught many, you have been an inspiration to fellow hobbyists, for this you will never see the accolades, except to see all those you have inspired to have success, in that place, you find greater satisfaction. Best to you my friend :)

Hey Perry,
I just checked in to see how you were doing. I got inactive on the forums for a while but having time now to keep up.
Your tank looks great and I am glad to see you are still rocking some acros and using the Aqua Forest.
The Green Slimer you gave me is doing awesome and been fraged back a time or two.
The Rommels Watermelon became a small colony the had some problems when I switched tanks. My salinity got low and I lost some pieces. I saved about a 2-3 " piece with a couple branches. It will bounce back and be a stunner again.

Thanks for sharing your tank and all your knowledge.
Kevin

Another one that fell off my list around June, just caught up a couple of pages, shrooms look great, good luck with the re boot! :)

Thank you very much, I appreciate the kind words and checking in on the thread, hope all is well your way :)

Hi Kevin,
I hope you are doing well my friend! I am without SPS at the moment, but do think this setup will include some at some point, the system is not ready though :) I am however really digging the mushrooms these days, I cannot stop myself, the addiction is real my friend, LOL :) Thanks for checking in, and hope all is well your way! Cheers

Almost a month update:
I swapped out the HME Block2 led panel with a Prime HD and Kessil A160 Tuna, they both are running blue only at 90%, the T5's mix the proper spectrum for making up with all other color hues. Coral+, Act+, 2xKZ Superblues on T5's. This overall spectrum is quite pleasing on the eye, all my corals pop. I suspect that I will eventually mix a bit more white, I can manually do that with Kessil if needed, but that will be down the road when I begin adding SPS.
For now, the lower part of the reef is getting filled, I will be adding more acans for sure, have an area designated for them. The shroom addiction, or collection, lol, still a work in progress, but have a few goodies in the tank :) I have also set a section up to have Z&P's create their own garden. They are looking a bit smug right now, I think too much light, so I may have to raise the fixture for the time being. So the low/middle/top part of the reef all poised for sps plugs. This will be happening in a month or so, hopefully.
The tank is running low nutrients, using AF Probiotic Method again, very pleased with the clarity and color pop in the tank. PO4 and NO3 are not measurable as of last test. I am feeding with LRS Reef Frenzy once per day heavy, and Spectrum pellets once per day. Using AF Vitality, Amino Mix, Phyto Mix, and Energy but 1/2 dose, every 3 days. Also use Ricco food every day at one spoon added into frozen feeding, as are all coral foods/supps. The additional filtration includes Phosphate Minus and AF Carbon in a BRS style reactor. Sponges are in place where the water overflows into the filtration area of the tank, I clean them weekly in tap, and clean skimmer. They collect a fair amount of particulate, but the small stuff still gets through, I do not mind this. Maintenance and water changes are simple with this setup, I am really pleased I can run this system so efficiently without a sump. So cool how you can achieve results in so many different ways with this hobby :)

Seems like things have started going well for you.

Yes,
Finally I am seeing alk uptake, I believe laden nutrients unprocessed in previous Fiji Live Rock, after muriactic acid bath, the weight of the rock reduced by 60%, no kidding. This main piece of rock is super porous now, I believe it is homing bacteria quite well, I am not currently using biological media, feeding heavy, but yet no nutrients measurable. I am now only using 1 drop of bacteria and carbon source daily instead of 2, so hopefully I will get a test color change. I most certainly am looking forward to sps again, now that I am certain I can maintain stable parameters. Cheers Bubba!
