Welcome, please feel free to contribute, give feedback, etc. I appreciate the follow :)

I remember seeing some tanks of your on RC in the past, I know this will turn out to be a fantastic looking reef before too long!

Thoughts???
Played with scape a bit, looks similar to my old scape, but wanted to break things up :)

I remember you as well, thanks for the kind words! I believe this would be my 4th all out SPS aquarium, there were others in between, but 3 successful mature SPS systems prior to this.
I believe what will make this one special is the aesthetics, the wall behind the aquarium is a sky blue color, always a fan of no background, in this case it reminds me of "Andrew's A Reef In The Sky" from many years back. The peninsula design makes this happen :)
Happy to break up the scape, definitely gives the tank a 3rd dimensional feel. Fed the fish well today, makes me smile to see the CBB eating mysis, as well as seeing aptasia thinning out, a great picker indeed.

It’s good to see another one of your tanks going. Your old one was a big inspiration for me.
Thanks Bubba!
That is awfully kind of you to say. I have been in the shadows, messing around with lps and softies. I knew the day would eventually come, was nudged by a good buddy of mine recently, so here we go. This weekend will be fun, par meter, super glue gel, and sticky fingers ;)
Cheers my friend!

It's not really a fun weekend unless you've managed to glue yourself to a rock!
Lol,
It will happen I am sure, nothing worse than drying your hands off, forgetting you had glue on them, crusty towels, lol. Then, when the wife asks about her towels, shrugging your shoulders with "not sure honey" look on your face, while
trying to unglue your thumb and index finger from one another, lol ;) As much as I love her, she does not understand the addiction of SPS, hence the reason I am keeping a flubber tank, lol. I hope she doesn't miss the OG bounce I am trading this weekend :)

So 18 SPS glued down, some nice ones too, HW, Fireworks, Pink Cadillac, malificent, silver surfer, and wwc yellow tip, just for a few names.
Not so good news, I now know why light were included, one of the panels overheated, goes into dim mode, and much less par, no bueno!
Suspended 250 watt SE Radium over center, going to get actinics when time allows, in the meantime, looks like old school, still looks sweet stand alone :)

All good halide hooked up on DA RKL, set for 8 hours a day, added a fan, removed heater, and luckily had a 36" actinic bar put into use. Also added a gyre jeboa knock off, puts out tons of flow.
Getting really good par numbers, halide 10" off water. All corals showing pe, so probably going to add orphek reef bars in the future.
Nothing too spectacular, but a pic moments ago :)

I just added an orphek or2 blue plus bar to my tank and it really puts out a lot of par (it’s mounted 10” off the water and the par levels were about 200 from just a single bar at 6”) so as a supplemental light it will do a decent job to help with shadowing

Awesome, thanks for the tip, that is looking like the direction I am heading :)
Majority of the tank getting decent par, gives the sticks something to grow towards. We shall see, the wires are a nightmare right now, should be able to get that under control tomorrow.
Thanks for checking in and feedback!
Cheers

Glad you hooked up the halide! Love the scape too. I got four of the or2 bars to go with my halides and two flickered on and off off the bat. Makes me really not feel good about my purchase and I expected more from orpek. I hope the supplier can make me happy. The daylight strip was crazy bright at the ends too which isn’t going to work and looks horrible :(

Great feedback,
Maybe I will look into sb bars, the cuurent 36" actinic strip actually looks good, hust need something for the back, might have to do Kessil a160's on either side. I will get it figured out, halide going to stay, peak temp was 77.8, fan kicks on at 77.5.
Blessing in surprise I suppose ;)
Cheers
