What about nitrates? It’s a pretty small tank... have you done a water change recently for this one?
With the api test strip the nitrates are barely detectable, maybe 0 and maybe 20 or somewhere in between

BTW, a salifert nitrate test kit was in my cart with brs until I had to buy everything else

Ok, just wanted to rule out other possibilities first since it doesn't quite have the right "look" for infection... probably it's very early stages. Did you say if it was on both sides or just the one? Might not be a bad idea to start antibiotics for this one as well...

You don't usually have to worry about nitrates too often in QT. I just wanted to make sure, since tangs can be "dirty" fish and the tank is a bit smaller than I usually use.

I think I forgot to answer you about it being on both sides, it is visible on both sides. I'll start the antibiotics now

The yellow tang is looking so much better! Is the redness under his eye a sign of infection?

@HotRocks @4FordFamily

Just getting a second opinion ;) Not salinity, ammonia, or water quality... visible like this on both sides. No copper in the tank at all. Only been treated for flukes so far. What do you guys think? Infection or something else?

Almost looks like a bruise to me, has it gotten worse quickly or has this progressed within 24-48?

Zebrasoma discolor a lot, but red is generally not good.

It doesn’t look much bigger, could just be more obvious now as the fish improves. Report back tomorrow with the fish’s condition. Do you have kanaplex, metroplex, and furan 2 on hand just in case?

What size bigger tank can you fit? Gallons or dimensions.
The tanks are on my kitchen island (I don't have a big house, no basement, and have two kids in the bedrooms I'd love to fill with tanks lol.) I could probably fit 2 20 gallon long tanks there but for now I'm making do with the 5 gallon tanks

I have all of those plus triple sulfa and now I have CP as well
