Pete polyp's 29 mixed reef

impressive! i love it!

what are you doing to maintain alk/calc/mag? just water changes? or are you supplementing?

cheers!

I have always used oceans blend 2 part and I have had great results. I use oceans blend magnesium as needed to maintain at 1350-1400. Two weeks ago I decided to toy with potassium with oceans blend as well. The potassium was at 310 when I started, and now its 400. I have seen some better colors since starting the potassium, but I'm not sure this is the cause of the better colors. The most noticeable difference is in.corals that I have only had for about a month.

Could you send me some of that bacteria? XD You, sir, have a very healthy population of denitrifiers.

Lol.... Its amazing what aragalive and tukani rock can do.

I have been battling low Ph all winter. I bought an apex for my new setup, so of course I put it on this tank for the time being. The Ph was 7.7 when I hooked it up, and fell to 7.5 that night. I opened the windows in the room and it has brought it up some. The low side is getting just below 7.8, and getting up to 8.1 during the day. I also have a kalk reactor sitting here for the new tank, but its hard to have a float switch with the wp25 in there. Today I have had it! Ph was under 8 at 3pm. So I mixed a gallon of kalk, got out some tubing and a gang valve and started dripping. I have it dialed in for 1 drop every 10 seconds. Hopefully this will help with the Ph being so low.

Last night was the first night I have dripped kalk and it seems to have kept the Ph up a bit. It fell to 7.95 compared to 7.75 the night before. I noticed much more polyp extension last night as well. Also, I didn't need to dose any 2 part this morning. This is the first time in a while that I haven't needed to add any 2 part on a daily basis.

I haven't updated in a while, and figure its about that time. I will start with a few random pictures

You would think I never feed my tank by looking at how hungry this one is

This was the first time I have seen the pistol shrimp in 6 months! He paired up with the yellow watchman that I assumed was dead for the past 4 months

That makes buying the randalls shrimp goby kind of pointless. Still a beautiful fish

I noticed a tiny piece of fuzz 7 months ago. Took a macro pic with my dslr and it was polyps! Here's to hitchhikers!

Let me see what else I have....

A difference in 50 days

Thank you very much. My sps seem really happy in this tank. I have brought several frags which appeared dead back to vibrant thriving corals.

I had a little delivery today from divers den. It was much larger than what I expected, but that's ok. It seems to be recovering well, and I can't wait to see it when it colors up.

Bad news today...... I guess sometime the past couple days my goby decided he wanted to go carpet surfing because I found him today :-(

Its really sad to me that these are in the frag rack...

Thanks. I forgot to add that one morning a few days ago my new acro rtn on me. I'm trying to hold off on getting any more until the 40 is ready.... But we all know how that goes
