My PH is 7.5 or 7.6 during the day I do not know how much it drops at night. How can I boost PH I just bought some kalkwasser online to dose to boost my PH. Will this be enough? I restart my mini refugium but it may have minor affects. Any other ideas? I have a nano tank so a co2 scrubber wouldn’t connect to my skimmer.

Have a Skimmer? Running an airline outside could help. More surface agitation.

I have a skimmer but how would I attach tube to it’s a tunze 9001
Where ever the air intake is. Run a hose from there to the outside.

The air intake is the controller of the skimmer on this skimmer. For small tanks not a large tank

Had to look up a pic to try and figure it out. Is the poly flexible hosing that hangs off your air intake?

How are you measuring pH?

Depending on your conditions, CO2 levels can definitely have an effect. Have you tried opening your windows for good airflow and measured an increase in pH? CO2 meters are pretty cheap too to double check levels in your home and outside.

I'd be weary of using kalkwasser or other pH boosting additives as they boost alk and if you don't need that it could cause some issues on its own. Where does your alk sit?

I use a CO2 scrubber. But I have my alk where I need it and have already verified its a CO2 issue in my home (during vacation my oH would jump to acceptable levels and when people come over it drops)

It has a disk thing connected to the end of the tube I would have to cut that off but then I would 0 control of the skimmer

Don't cut it off, simply extend it. Still would be used, just much longer hose after the adjustment.

I bet it’s a testing error/bed test kit. Can’t get that low with photosynthesis happening in the tank.

My dosers are starting to struggle to keep up with the parameters I think Kalk will be good for keeping parameters in check and little less dosing to save money as well. From what I read kalk also binds with CO2 when added to the tank reducing carbon dioxide. My kh is 8 currently. Calcium 490. Magnesium 1800. A little high but fine I like it high and keep it there usually.

It’s too hot to keep windows open. Winter I keep them fully open 247.

I will try new test kit tomorrow and give you feed back. :)
Which one did you use? I have used API test kits which showed low values, but once I got an apex and started continuous monitoring, ph goes up to 8 at the peak of photosynthesis.

I used API yes. I will try Salifert. My api and Red Sea test the same for KH. I rather get the 10$ api kh tester then the 30$ redsea kh tester only for that test specifically. I cross reference them occasionally

My advice is not to worry about ph at this point. It can’t be that low. I like api for ammonia and nitrite. Ph test not so much.

Unless you can continuously monitor ph, there not much you can do to fix the situation either.

You can replace the air controller with a simple inline valve betwen the scrubber and skimmer. I like scrubbers. 0.3 improvement in my tank.

Is this your skimmer? You can connect the line for the CO2 scrubber where i circled. Your blue air valve is still there.
