What in the heck is wrong with 8.4 pH. Been known for a long time the higher the pH ,the faster corals grow.

A lot of ppl on the brd would DIE for a 8.4 reading......many have super expensive CO2scrubbers just to crack 8.0 at its peak.

Explain why this is a problem?

This much like a Fiance saying, "oh no, this engagement ring is waaaaay too big. We need to return it." LOLOLOL

It’s not a problem for me with the knowledge it’s not a problem. But it is enough of a problem for some it seems. And at set up, Neptune recommend a pH alarm at 8.4.
