I actually got it installed today and it's been running for a couple hours.
I was going to take pics of the install but I was dying in the attic and just wanted out, lol.

True, but saltwater pools have a much lower concentration of salt. It's equivalent to human tears.
Throw some tankwater in your eyes and tell me how that feels. :D

Well that's disappointing. Imagine the reef you could grow in that pool - and no CO2 issues!

I had similar issues with my PH. Could barely maintain 6.3, even tried dosing. Now I keep the sump door open and have a fan blowing into the sump area all day. I leave the doors open when I can (same problem in Florida), and I've been pretty steady around 8.0-8.4. I'm planning on running a line outside soon, just really concerned about landscapers spraying.

FWIW, since it came up here, I thought I'd copy and past this comparison from another thread today.

The issue is whether pH indicating dyes are equally suitable in freshwater and seawater.

Here's a table I made showing the type of issue that makes the data not exactly correct, and, IMO, makes any pH measurement with a kit not specifically designed for seawater ONLY to not be guaranteed reliably accurate, even if it says suitable for seawater and freshwater:

Thymol Blue....................1.439................................1.6
Bromophenol Blue..........3.695................................3.85
Bromcresol green............4.410..................................4.7
Bromcresol purple..........5.972..................................6.3

I tried it last night and this morning and either it's not working correctly as you say, or my probe is way off.
My pool kit only measures between 7-8 and the resulting color of my test was 8 or higher.
Uses the red dye

How'd the cup thing go?

Also, since you asked previously, I'm running a dual chamber calcium reactor. I get a pH rise of 0.3 after going through the second chamber. I get it'd be even better if the second chamber was the finer version of ARM.

I haven't had time to try the cup yet. Last night was dealing with my Vectra issues.

I'm looking at getting a DC pump for my new tank and I think it's going to be a varios. Moved away from vortechs on to the newer gyres so I'm not married to ecotech anymore! The Varios seems to be pretty darn reliable.

That or the cup thing. Not sure which will happen first.
Meanwhile waiting to see if the straw in the skimmer cup lid does anything.
My alk went up a little so I had to turn off the co2 overnight. Of course pH went up but that's not a true reading.
 
I just looked on BRS. Those prices are nuts. What are they made of? Gold?
yeahhh... it seems silly at first, but with a 10-year warranty; when you start to do the math it makes sense over the long haul. It gets even better when comparing electrical savings against more traditional AC pumps.

While it may not be made of gold, it's also not made of cheap materials that will eventually corrode and leach in your tank either. I have a box of bulged, split and rusty VorTechs for example. Imagine what's happening with less expensive circulating pumps?

Back to Dennis' original topic: 3/8"-18 NPT tap arrived today. Tomorrow's project is to replump the skimmer's intake.

Who knew this thread would turn into a tool buying opportunity!
