Phosphate direction

actually I did drip a small amount in the skimmer but seems wouldn’t be as effective myself too.

Yea didn’t work very good for me when I was dripping/dosing into the top of the skimmer cup. But dosing deeper inside the skimmer body made a huge difference for me to where I’m happy with results while still not as efficient as the sock method though

I guess I will continue the sock method. How much did you use? Again I was using only 25%

Just to clarify, you’re dosing phosphate rx with a doser as maintenance routine?

Nope, I’m using phosban-L watered down to 10 times the recommended concentration. 29:1 rodi: phosban-L. I. My tank I was dosing around 120ml per day spread out hourly to get my levels down.

Btw I just remembered I had this calculator bookmarked that does all the dosage math for you for alot of the common additives phosphate Rx included. this would be with sock method I’m assuming. Could be useful to check out.

Using that calculator for 120g maybe start with 6 drops a day to take it slow? That’s 0.05 reduction, then you have to guess you are adding a certain unknown amount of phosphates with feeding and such daily on top of that. Daily testing will tell you if you need to increase or decrease dose from there. Ulr Hanna checker will be your best friend when it comes to testing.

I’m sorry 7.2 drops is what the calculator suggests for 0.05 reduction.

Nice find! Thx

If you are seeing an immediate negative effect on corals and clouding then your sock is not catching it properly. You should not get any clouding. I like just putting the sock in the sump and pumping water into the sock with a spare powerhead instead of putting the sock on the return. I dose 50 drops diluted into a 500 ml iv bag dripped in over 4-5 hours for my 210g tank. I don’t see any issues with any fish or corals.

I put 18 drops into a 16oz water bottle so it’s about the same as 450ml. Maybe I need to slower the drop rate from 1.5 hour to 4-5 instead.

my Filter got foamed up to the top near finished, maybe some foam escaped out that caused the cloudiness perhaps the lost coral.

take note on that and will def take it way slower and see.

How big was the tank?

I used phosphate E by bright well. My po4 was 1.55. Over two days I lowered to .14.

I did 20mil 1st day and 20mil second day. I dosed into my over flow box so it went straight to sock.

I had no clouding and no visible effects in any corals.

so I did just about .75 ppm per day.

dropped from 1.55 to .14 in two days!!!! Was there any negative effects?

Update: dosed 25%, lost some candy cane, but overall doing ok. Checked p04 and it was at .35!!!!

Will do another 25% next week.

I did not notice any changes in corals or fish. Everything looked hoppy before and after the drop. But that’s just me, not sure if I would recommend dropping that fast.

Right in range with the calculation I did earlier with approximately .37ppm based on your information and .25% dosage.
