That is all you would suggest? Looking for a skimmer that doesn't have the pump built into the skimmer. Been there done that and I don't like taking the hole thing apart to clean the pump.

if that's your concern, definitely get a Lifereef. You can attach any pump you want.

Hey I thought you were trying to narrow it down! After my research, I really like the NYOS and the Tunze...those would be my top two. So, I guess (although there are lots of other great skimmers out there), that's the 2 I'd recommend.

Tunze it is then! :D Check out the 9430 or 9460 (I'd personally go with the 9460, but I like to oversize my skimmers a lot). I am running a 9410 on my 50g and I LOVE it! Super easy to adjust with the control (no twisting of anything on the skimmer) and the pump is outside the skimmer body so should be easy maintenance for you. It's also super consistent IME. I'm dumping mine every couple of days (my philosophy is feed heavy and skim heavy).

Are you on a budget? If not, you can't go wrong with a Vertex Alpha. The 300 gets you into the tank size you want without being overboard. I think you could safely go with a 250 as well with a skim locker to account for the larger volume of skimate...

Lifereef is definitely highly recommended by most reviewers. I don't think I've ever seen a negative review.

I may have over looked this but a few questions may help point in your decision,how much space do you have for the skimmer?are you wanting to go external or internal ?are you thinking bout have a pretty heavy stocked system?and are you on a price capp?
