Hello Reefers!

I have a Eshopp X-160. I hate it... lol

I’m looking for a quiet skimmer, quiet.

I found this Vertex 150 Omega Protein Skimmer for $260 used like new.

I have a 120g, I don’t want to break the bank.

Any other brands I should look at?

Thanks

Well,
Just to start off the conversation.

I've reed too many reviews: That say the Vertex 150's don't stay dialed in and they are finicky skimmers.

Thanks for the heads up. I have also read that , I wonder if that’s why the guy is selling it lol... I like the fact it was quiet

Prob around $200-250

What about a Bubble Magus Curve 5 Skimmer?

Should I do the bubble 7 for my 120g? Says the 5 will work but others thing go big or go home..

Thank you for the share! I found that the INS was a bit loud on some reviews. I was about to buy the bubble 7 lol

I love the fact that’s a DC pump and has a controller. Love the controller.

Is it quiet?
The Simplicity 240 skimmer

Vertex needs the tube replaced with an old-school riser tube (like ASM or ER) and they are better. I do not like the one that I bought at all... it is not a good performer. I do not have a brand to offer, but did want to tell you from own experience that your instincts to avoid this skimmer are good.

Definitely go slightly larger if you have the room... too big is not good and can be inefficient.

You’re referring to avoid the Vertex correct?

Cant go wrong with reef octopus skimmere, nest bang for your buck !

Simplicity 240 they are quiet and work great 2 years on the body and 1 year on the pump and have great customer service
