I’m looking for the cheapest rodi system I can get that’s good quality. I only have a 40g breeder so don’t need tons of water. Send me some links.

I picked up the BRS 5-stage for my 40B. Local TDS is in the 150’s and they do not use chloramine. With that I get a 2 TDS reading before the DI and a final TDS of 0 after DI.

The 5-stage may be overkill now, but planning ahead if they ever start to use chloramine in the future.

I use that ro buddie off Amazon. I hang in closet and run hose to bathroom sink and take down when done I run all day and get about 25gallons with does my water change and ATO for 2 weeks.

I can pick up a 4 stage rodi that’s bulk reef used are these good

I’d jump on it BUT I would also purchase new filters with the exception of the DI. If the DI resin is a color changing type and it has turned 3/4 brown, I would then also pick up a new DI cartridge

Which one is the one you have

I use the 100 gpd version. The standard version doesmt come with the di chamber but its optional depending on how dirty your water is. Produces 0 tds water consistently for me and everyone else I know

Just in my opinion this is the last thing to be cheap on you dont have to go overboard but rodi should be the only water to go into your tank. Except emergencies. I really like my aqua fx baracuda. Around 170. Remember buying used if you have to replace filters they are not that cheap. Take into consideration if buying used sometimes it cheaper to buy new.

I see many people using the BRS RO/DI system. I purchased the Marine Depot 4 stage advanced RO/DI filter (came with TDS meter, pressure gauge and flush valve) for 100 gpd. So far it is working fine. Does anyone know if it is any different quality than the BRS ones? Should I buy BRS filters when mine need to be changed?

Hi all,

I have a 20 gallon tank and I'm trying to stay on the budget but still raise the water quality by purchasing RO/DI filter. I see some people are recommending RO Buddie, but that's just RO part. Since I'm new I don't know how much a DI part is important. So I found this other filter that has DI part but I'm not sure how good it is. I'll put links to both filters that I'm thinking of and I would really like to know your opinion and with which one would you go with. Thanks!

LiquaGen - RODI filter
or
RO Buddie

Actually, now when I looked better at the image of Aquatic Life RO Buddie, I see that it has DI part. I guess that it's just a question which one would you go with? Or would you maybe recommend something else in that price range?

My biggest concern was filter replacement.

With the BRS RO/DI systems, they use commonly found filter replacements. I’m unsure of the above mentioned systems and how readily available the filter replacements are. Some thing to consider

Yeah, I'll definitely have to think about that aspect as well. Thanks!
