How far under your lights? I have basically the same setup, but mine doesn't look nearly as nice!

The tips are 2" from the waterline, my piece grew rather vertically and has slowly started to branch out more. In that picture I had the fixture 8" from the waterline, I just recently raised it 2 more inches to see what happens.

I see, pretty close, so about 10 inches from the light then. Maybe I should raise mine.

My colony is a couple years old now, and I think you have twice the growth!

Mine is 8-10" below the surface, and more than 2' below my LED's.

You are indeed doing it right @Joshky!

General rule with yellow is to blast them with light and have low nutrients

Nice explosion between march and april.

yeah wow! you are doing it right!

Thank you! :)

Yours has a lot more encrusting growth than mine does, I blast mine with 2 mp40s and I can't get it to encrust very much. What kind of flow do you have in your tank?

You mentioned dinos. What did you do to stop them? I have them and they killed all my acros. Thanks

I fought them with biodiversity, I replaced all of my rock with TBS live rock and the bit of dinos I had left in the tank cleared up seemingly overnight. So far, 6 months later and I haven't seen them return. *knock on wood* My theory, based on research of anecdotal evidence was that dinos are more likely to become a nuisance in a sterile tank (ie. newer tanks started with mostly dry rock), it seems as though there may be some truth to it based on my own experience and I may never use dry rock again. Dinos wrecked havoc on my SPS as well and I'm very lucky I only lost one piece, with that being said some of my acros still haven't recovered and I fear I may never get to see what they look like colored up (wild frags).
