Is it safe to use these crates like in the attached picture in our tanks, will it hurt the tank in anyway.

Most plastic is fine but can't say those for sure. As for the ceramic rings, not a fan of them but while you save the money for good media use those

None of you have any idea what your talking about... The media in the crates is Sera Siporax, far and away the best media you can use, way better than anything BRS sells

This is my buddies tank, he and a few others in the area have had good luck with the rings. I have some one order and wanted to make sure I get a container that is safe. I also already have the media blocks as posted above. I think a few varieties we work good.

No need for the insults friend, simple disagreement. I've gotten more mileage out of alternatives, hands down. To each their own. :D

Does the Block not release aluminum? I thought I read people having issues with them. I will have both just for the variety.

There's a monster thread out there on this very debate. Per triton tests, those using marinepure have shown increased levels of aluminum. I think the debate is really what affect it plays on your livestock. It seemingly has a harsher affect on soft vs stony corals. I would also imagine it depends how much of the stuff you have in relation to your total water volume.

I currently have 4 blocks with about 450 gallons of water.

So I should look for 4 and 5s on the bottom of the crates for best results?

5 is polypropylene, so as randy said, it should be safe.

I dont like the dye, and would be sure to use activated carbon.

Also, id take those handles off, they could be anything else.

I have mushrooms that look great and they are upper end variety, LPS and SPS fine as well. Plus a Starlet coral too with no ill effects. 75g. 8X4" block . 5 months now. Time will tell.
