True, but being they plate, they are also better at capturing light. My green plating monti is at about 100par.That being said, they do need adequate light.

I actually use them to judge the tank at a quick glance. If my orange monti cap is looking a bit dull I do some testing to make sure things aren't off. It has usually been a great indicator of my alk slipping one direction or the other.
