I transferred immediately with net right from QT. to DT. Temp in both tanks is identical 78 degrees. Salinity in QT is 1.024. DT is 1.025.
it could have very well crashed into something.Wife says he was competing fine mid day and we both came home same time at 6 on was wondering if we startled him.
no stay voltage had my hands in there several times. Did have that earlier I. Year though. That startled me. Lol. Fixed that

Netting tank to tank is a no-no , not saying it cant be done.
In the future place in bucket in tank water, and add a cup every 15 minutes from new tank to the bucket 4X and then net into tank

I thought only an issue when different salinity, ph temp etc. I will make sure. I know hard to see but his dorsal fin is erected even though motionless. He is between rock and wall

While there, 2 rounds of Prazipro over 14 days. I did do freshwater dip before Prazi which came up nothing. But still did it anyway. Tried giving the metro soaked food a couple times but they did not seem to like it so did not do consistently.
Prazi treats some internal parasites but not all; Metro treats some internals but not all. Together they take care of most internal parasites. Dosing with General Cure does both.

Stress may be the issue being dumped so quickly into a new tank with new fish. An acclimation box is preferred to allow all fish to start to recognize others and their surroundings.

Items to methodically think about and help rule out possibilities:

1. It doesn't sound like a disease as long as your procedures are clean moving from the copper tank to the new sterile observation tank. You used black mollies, so that is an added measure that helps rule out somewhat that ich/velvet probably weren't present... plus the fish shows no outward signs of disease right now.

2. Seems too coincidental that an internal parasite would hit the fish. There were no problems with it in observation and treatment, meaning it was acting normal in observation... then suddenly a parasite hits the day it enters the DT. Probably not likely.

3. Gill flukes... possible a prazi-resistant variety, but it's not flashing! Plus, you did a freshwater dip showing nothing already... therefore, not likely.

4. Uronema... no skin lesions as of now; something to probably watch for.

Well, those are the big ones... and it doesn't seem likely on any of them! That leaves the stress of dumping thes fish into a new environment without acclimating. Also, the fish is demonstrating stressful behavior and fear with its fin raised up! If possible, maybe dim lights for a day and give him/her some time to check out its surroundings while watching for aggression and outward skin lesions.

Thanks so much for thorough response. I will watch. And keep lights low. I did not see him this morning but lights were still out and I have extensive rock work with lots of hiding places. Hoping she bounces back soon. reqlly not much more I can do at this time. I will keep you all posted

Well she didn’t make it!!! It just stinks even when your think and try to do everything right! the only thing (as mentioned) was stress from acclimation but if parameters match anyway i have to believe there has to be some underlying issues to succumb to death. I know part of hobby but just wears you down

That's terrible news! I just can't see what it could have been without other signs. Let's keep a close watch on those other fish!

I dont know what's wrong but naso, especially blondes, are notorious for suddenly declining

As long as o2 and ammonia are in line and nobody is picking, on it I'm not sure what you could do.

Best of luck!
This is my thought. I am not sure there's anything else you could do. Even my Blonde Naso declined over a year from a healthy fish and suddenly died. They are usually hardy if they make it a few months in the DT but they just have some issues in captivity that I've not been able to explain in some circumstances.

Sorry for the loss :(

Actually gives me some peace that not my fault by missing something and racking my brain and scarred I will do it again. Thank you

In the future, I suspect the bucket may have been the final strike due to quick ammonia buildup, lack of oxygen (fish don’t last long without bubbler), and temperature drop - but I wouldn’t beat yourself up too bad because I’ve only seen perhaps 2 tangs come back from laying on their side out of hundreds, perhaps a thousand situations. To be succinct, one was in person, the other was on here I didn’t see personally. Mine was an Achilles tang that was recovering from velvet I thought for sure was a goner. It laid in its side breathing heavily for 4 days then suddenly started swimming around but by bit over a week. It paired with another Achilles tang (velvet took an eye and this was a large, rare (nice) tang. Then, it died suddenly for no apparent reason about a year later. I am guessing organ failure was a component of the damage velvet did and not eating for 1.5 weeks, hard to know for sure.
