Please help me GSP!

If you don't have any, a couple small cerith snails (an omnivore I think) will decrease your algae growth, and might increase your nitrate a little so as to keep the GSP happier if that's what's going on. Don't panic, cause the bugs are good.

Raise your nutrients
Not so much po4 though.

Turn off the skimmer? Side note: three days ago I discovered marine velvet. Fish are in quarantine. Will not having that bio load over the course of month make matters worse for the GSP?

Not sure about stump remover in a ten gallon nano. Going to have to read up on that myself.

Anything that will decrease algae grown would be awesome! I have Astrea snails at the moment. They do nothing

Just looking at some of your other threads and posts; lots going on.

Just to be sure, how many total gallons in the system?
What kind of filtration?
What kind of light?

Algae is coming from what you are putting in.
What are you feeding?
And yes potassium nitrate can be used in any volume tank

Total gallons calculated to be about 9.5
After subtracting displacement of rocks and sand. Plus adding water form filter.

Filter, currently a canister filter with carbon and nothing else. I can't explain how much regret I have due to setting it up on a canister. This will soon be replaced with a small sump. The sump will have room for filter sock, refugium and small skimmer.

Current light: Orbit Marine Led. Although this will be replaced with a Kessil A160WE with a spectral controller by the end of this week. Shipping has taken forever due to the holiday.

GSP's are great water indicators
What are your numbers at now?
No3 and po4
Lol beat me to it, brandon toss that thing in some serious flow. If it doesny open up and doesnt have algae growin on it will usually result in a nitrate issue

I I always thought nitrate should be kept at zero. I run Fluval clearmax which claims to reduce phosphate and nitrate should I remove it?

No no no i keep all my tanks nitrates at the most 8 not less then 3, all ive ben seeing lately is "no one apparently has any nitrate or phosphates" witch is completely horrible regardless if yu have a monster algae outbreak, its better then havin a pale bone white 200 dollar pinkynail acro frag

And why call the quits on canister filters, im sorry but theres something about the word nitrate factory that ticks me off because the number 1 rule(beside patients) is good husbandtry otherwise your wasting ur money

How do you maintain nitrate?

Ive had gsp rot in a stagnant garbagepale in my garadge for 3 years and still somehow came back to live, its just one of those softys thay will close up for months at a time for no reason and come back flourishing also so i woildnt wry

The reason I would like to get rid of the canister is 1.) adding sumo adds water volume and 2.) ease of maintenance and 3.) to rid the display of equipment

How do you maintain nitrate?
I have 3 tanks and ill tell u the 3 different ways i do it, my gfs 29 biocube i dont run anything other then a cup of carbon a tablespoon of gfo and a 50 micron filterpad to polish the water, i do aboit a 20% water change when i feel like it bexause its not overstocked
