PS - the manual will show you exactly where to place the ATO reservoir.

I can't see how placing the return pump in the 'correct' chamber will work in stopping the microbubbles bubbles though it's all connected. In Reality there's no right or wrong chamber, if a return pump and a skimmer fits in there then cool its refugium space if you wanted one lol.

BTW - it is NORMAL that you might have to adjust your water level - either up or down - when you move your return pump

Its because of the way the tank is designed. There is normally a sponge - that goes between the 'sump' and the 'return chamber'. That collects any detritus/bubbles, etc. Though no one can 'guarantee' it - the best way to set up these tanks - is according to the directions in the manual.

Yeah it's worth a go I suppose I've never seen a red sea sump. It just seems like a heck of a lot of bubbles which a skimmer shouldn't be puting out surely.

Quick youtube video and by watching this and looking at design of reefer 170 sump.
Water comes in sump at filter socks then goes round to front compartment where skimmer is then over a baffle then under a baffle then into return pump section then back to tank and inbetween that over amd under baffle is a sponge used as mentioned already in thread.
I read above posts that already sorted out in pm so no problem but just thought I share a video for op and any others who read this in weeks/ months to come ^_^

I have the same issue with my bubble magus z7. Basically the same sump in my proclear. Im thinking of getting a sponge to sit on the glass that separates the return and skimmer area. But I’ve never seen a skimmer release so many micro bubbles as this thing does.

You’re all amazing thank you, I bought the tank second hand so I didn’t get a manual and struggled to find videos on how to set it up properly. Just sorta did it through common sense, which by the sounds of it wasn’t very good haha.

going to take a look at all the manuals, turn off the pumps and try to reconfigure it a bit.
