I didnt understand it at first either - becasue there IS an ATO chamber with that tank - it just wasn't in the pictureHaha i was looking at his pictures still was a bit slow. Eyes getting old sucks

He has that - but was not using it. I explained via DM - how to do so. You're correctThere is a tank that sits on the glass rails and it is gravity fed into the return chamber
Its because of the way the tank is designed. There is normally a sponge - that goes between the 'sump' and the 'return chamber'. That collects any detritus/bubbles, etc. Though no one can 'guarantee' it - the best way to set up these tanks - is according to the directions in the manual.I can't see how placing the return pump in the 'correct' chamber will work in stopping the microbubbles bubbles though it's all connected. In Reality there's no right or wrong chamber, if a return pump and a skimmer fits in there then cool its refugium space if you wanted one lol.
You can download the manual from Red Sea here. https://www.redseafish.com/support/manuals/categories/reefer-170sorry, I’m not sure I bought it second hand. It’s black, came with sump and plumbing equipment. That’s all I know
He wanted to DM - there are actually a couple different Red Sea reefers 170 and 170A. He has a 170 based on his serial number. I sent him the manual via DMYou can download the manual from Red Sea here. https://www.redseafish.com/support/manuals/categories/reefer-170
. I know Redsea tanks can be very finicky with regards to altering the plumbing. My wife is constantly telling me 'the tank is bubbling'
If you need more help hollerYou’re all amazing thank you, I bought the tank second hand so I didn’t get a manual and struggled to find videos on how to set it up properly. Just sorta did it through common sense, which by the sounds of it wasn’t very good haha.
going to take a look at all the manuals, turn off the pumps and try to reconfigure it a bit.
. good luck
