I second stomatella but can't tell since its in a bag.. If it is a stomatella put it back in! My #1 algae eater 100%! Put my trochus snails to shame

Too big for a stoma. I agree put it in some water. Almost look like a conch.

I dont want to put it back in tbe tank incase i loose it lol ill go homw amd take another pic of it in water. Jus want to know if its good for my tank or bad. Send pics thrpugh in 20min

I've had plenty of stomatellas that big or larger.
You've had one inch stomas? I've never heard of them that big.
Send me one next time. I love the odd stuff.

I was actually looking at both the unusual size and the chonical end to the shell as well as the way it appeared to curl under on one side and appears to be missing the swirl at the larger end like a stoma

The hole thing is hard like a massive tic. It had a big string coming off it to. Ill deff take pics soon as i finish work. I still have it in the bag at home all my zoas that hadnt opened yet wen missing something ate them so wasnt sure if this was it or not.

Some sort of bivalve, almost looks like you could steam him up and dip him in some butter

Yup. Bivalve I think too.
I have a few of that kind.

I agree that the shape is off, but comparing the size to that fingernail (mine is just under 1/2"), I think it's a totally reasonable size for a stomatella.

I don't think it's a stomatella anymore since is hard, mine are pretty soft and slippery. I have stomatellas well near half an inch and they've only been in here for maybe two months! When I got them they were so small I didn't see them underneath a monti cap frag I bought. They are like lawnmowers. Just recently one found my powerhead and completely cleaned an entire line of 1/2 inch hair algae
