Here’s my preferred way to DIY a nem cup. Take a plastic cup (I prefer the clear for observation purposes) and make holes in it. I use a wood burning tool (picture below) to melt perfectly circular holes quickly that allow for water flow. Monitor him carefully and hopefully with some flow and good lighting he should do better.

In your pictures, they kind of look like worms? Are they worms? Brown slime? Jelly-like substance? You’re noticing holes in the nem, so they aren’t coming out of the mouth?

Okay your first pic definitely has a gaping mouth, your second pic looks like it’s expelling something, possibly worms. Can you take a sample of whatever is coming out of the nem and put it on a piece of white paper so we can see it a little better?

No these things are now coming from other places than his mouth

Make sure the nem is getting a good amount of flow, not blasted but enough to pass water through the cup. You haven’t fed it right?

Try blowing it off gently, hopefully it’s just expelling waste due to the stress of moving and will be okay. Worst case scenario it’s prolapsing it’s guts (vomits out it’s own organs) and may not recover. What color is it? White, brownish?
