Plumbing experts I need your help. From: plumbing noob

Yes, you need a 1.5" threaded x barbed connector but I would not include a valve on the overflow, it serves no purpose. When you shut the system off for cleaning or whatever the overflow piping will already be drained and an air gap is stopping any further flow.
You will never ever want to restrict or throttle the overflow since its the return pump that controls the flow not the overflow which just matches the pumps flow so it serves no purpose. Leave it like you had it in your first post with no valve for simplicity.

Ok awesome! I like your idea so much better! ill post up some picture when I get it figured out.

AZ beat me to it. I was going to suggest you remove the valve earlier, but was just on the phone. But, like he said, its really not necessary

Ha I see that now. But im going to keep it on because it is cemented on! and I dont feel like buying all that again! i mean its only like 5 bucks. so maybe I will lol ill see what I find at the plumbing store

My T joint is upside down.......

Do I have to redo it lol it will still drain it's just slightly smaller opening on the bottom half of the pipe

See.. Lol

We shall see! I see what you are saying ill test it out and if it is I can switch to something else

Not only is it noisier due to eddy and back currents it also restricts flow. I would use black or clear reinforced or heavy wall vinyl tubing for a nice smooth laminar flow.

Ya its not what I thought it was. Im not quite sure where to find it thought home depot does not have what I need and neither does the local hardware store. where do I go???

I would think both HD and Lowes or any hardware store should have heavy wall vinyl tubing? Got mine there several times.

They did not!!! they didnt have it in the size I needed. ill probably have to size down to 1 1/4" because thats the only size they have in it. I have one more place to try that I didnt know carried tubing like this

Mike, get it just a little small and heat gun it and fit it to the nipples. The heat guns are sold there too and are cheaper than the tubing of much length.

AND, watch where you lay down the heat gun while you are working with the tubing and nipple, I KNOW how badly the metal tip will burn your fingers and carpet in 1/1000 heart beat.
