Po4 0.33 with nopox

I had it in a media bag in the first chamber and it would just bunch up together and I never noticed it remove very much, I always heard for gfo you need it tumble a lot for it to work

Ahh ok. That might be the difference I have mine in a reactor.
 
What are your nitrates reading? If they have been reduced to zero then your bacteria will not be using any po4.

Take it for what its worth but if nitrate has bottomed out you may consider dosing it to help keep po4 in line. Just be careful and go slow, you don't want your po4 to zero out too.....one of my early mistakes with carbon dosing.

For me I stopped carbon dosing and let my nitrates go above zero, now my phosphate and nitrates stay in good balance but it took time. My scrubber does a good job now of keeping my parameters where the tank is thriving. I have used the phosphate rx when my phosphate was very high and it worked great.
 
My scrubber is the santa monica drop .6 scrubber and I’ve never noticed it has helped that much but I’ve never ran the tank with out it.
 
GFO works, but it's like a sponge it can only absorb so much until it is exhausted. That might be a month or a couple of hours.

How much GFO are you using and how often have you been changing it?

Also don't drop that phosphate quickly your SPS will not be very happy about the sudden drop.

I have a greyfish scrubber, this was last weeks harvest.

use more GFO and change it out more frequently

But yeah, obviously you need to change your RODI filters.

I use GFO, macroalgae, skimming, GAC, and water changes. That's also about the rank order of, I think, the effectiveness in my tank, although the last two are hard to compare..
 
Well I figured out what my po4 is in my RODI water it’s 0.12 and that’s fresh RODI water

Is that 0 ppm TDS water?

That said, even if real, it's not the main contributor to the tank. You add much more phosphate to the tank each day in foods than in top off.
 
No clue on the tds on my rodi water I just ordered a tds meter, but that was a fresh cup of rodi water I just made just to test
 
You could try phosguard. I have had good luck with it and I don't use a reactor. You can buy it in a pouch that will treat up to a 60 gallon tank. Just make sure you rinse it well with RO water before you put it in the tank. The aluminum oxide dust might irritate your corals or worse.
 
How good are the rodi filters good for I always heard 6 months and then the ro membrane once a year

The DI consumption is not time based, but the amount of TDS that flows through it. So the amount of water and the TDS in that water determines the lifespan.

The TDS may be elevated, and that's worth checking for other reasons, but foods are still your main source, unless you are not feeding the tank. :)

What about other sources of phosphate, like the "crappy" RO/DI water containing 0.05 ppm phosphate? A similar analysis will show it equally unimportant relative to foods.

Let's assume that the aquarist in question adds 1% of the total tank volume each day with RO/DI to replace evaporation. Simple math shows that the 0.05 ppm in the RO/DI becomes 0.0005 ppm added each day to the phosphate concentration in the aquarium. That dilution step is critical, taking a scary number like 0.05 ppm down to an almost meaningless 0.0005 ppm daily addition. Since that 0.0005 ppm is 40-600 times lower than the amount added each day in foods (Table 4), it does not seem worthy of the angst many aquarists put on such measurements. That said, tap water could have as much as 5 ppm phosphate, and that value could then become a dominating source of phosphate and would be quite problematic. Purifying tap water is important for this and many other reasons.
 
I feed a half cube of mysis 3 times a week and feed the corals 2x a week and also dose acro power 2x a week
