Pods

Can I add the pods anytime cause I know when you add them to the tank it tells you to wait until the fish are asleep

For feeding the fish with pods you do it while awake. For stocking your tank and building a colony best when asleep. A bag of 3000 pods turns into 1500 pods before they ever settle if the fish are awake. If you got pods that arrived alive and in good health fish go absolutely crazy eating them. First time I dumped in pods it was like watching an old movie of piranhas in a feeding frenzy.

I want to add... I get my pods from algaebarn. my experience those that come in bags = alive and kicking. Those from Live aquaria in bottles = overpriced and many dead. Algaebarn has a guarantee for live arrivals also.

Ok so I'll wait until tonight to add it to the refugium I just thought since the refugium was on the back of the tank and if I turn the pumps off that the fish wouldn't get them because they wouldn't go into the tank

It a bag of pods I just bought yesterday and there the algagen tisbe pods

how many gallons is your system? what kind of fish do you have? what kind of fish do you plan to have?

I did have the refugium on my 30 gallon tank but now it's on a 55 gallon tank and it's the small unit and I have a dragonet and a Koran angel and a purple tang that is small and 4 clownfish in the tank and 1 bubble tip anemone and 2 sabae anemones and 3 small Corals in the tank

I'm not putting no more fish in there and I'm gonna upgrade to a bigger tank eventually I just wanted to use the 55 gallon to get use to everything and to see what happens really cause this is my first saltwater tank and I didn't want to start out with to big of a tank and it's been running for about 2 years now

I just added the Koran angel and the purple tang about 2 months ago

What kind of dragonet... if it is a mandarin or red scooter... or MOST dragonets it is probably starving if this first time adding pods. If it is new. If it been in there a while I am sure it fine.

I would dump bag in main tank, order another 16oz half for tank and half for fuge as soon as you get if dragonet new and of a certain kind. Ask others to confirm first. But that is what I would do. BUT it depends on what you mean by dragonet. What kind???? Does it eat frozen food? How long have you had it?

No I add tiger pods in the bottle and it's a mandarin dragonet and he is getting really big so he definitely isn't starving I've been adding a whole bottle of Tiger pods once a week and I'm gonna try to produce them so I don't have to spend all the money buying a bottle every week

I've had him for about 5 months now and he is getting big but I put brine shrimp in the tank but I'm not sure if he is eating that or not I've never really watched him like that cause I know that there's pods in there cause I'm putting them in the tank once every week and there's some on the glass but I want to produce more cause you never have to many for a mandarin dragonet

in that case carry on. :-p --- Scared me for a minute lol.

No he definitely eats alot he is always pecking at the live rock

But I just wanted to know what to do in the way of seeding the refugium so I don't have to put a bottle of pods in every week that's all

But people have told me to turn all pumps off while putting the pods in the refugium and the skimmer and everything and when I feed phytoplankton to leave everything on but I thought you were supposed to turn everything off even when feeding phytoplankton cause it will suck the phytoplankton out but they said it's fine to leave everything on so I guess this is what I'll do
