In the past I have had a flame angel and it was a model citizen, never picking on anything in my tank. But since his time I have been nervous to buy another, such as a potters, or lemon peel in fear of it picking on my coral. I'm going to attempt to setup a poll to see what people experiences have been in the past.

Feel free to post what type of dwarf angel did or didn't work in your tank!

Thanks!

i have had a few angels in my tank.as far as not reef safe. the scribbled only messed with the clam so i pulled him after a year. still have a potters in the tank definately graces on the coral but its to small for the amount of coral i have. had a blueface tht was an angel citizen never even looked at the coral.

I have a Flame Angel that's been a model citizen. There's every kind of coral in the tank and it's never bothered any of them. I think they'd rather eat bugs than corals, that's the trick.

Well so far the results aren't quite what I was hoping for, and I'll keep the tip in mind Mike. I typically have plenty of stuff in my tank that may keep one occupied. :)

Dam ipad. Hit the wrong button. My angels have all been great. From potters to dwarfs, flame backs and flames.

Dwarf Angel plus Coral and fish= HELL!
IMHO and I've owned many and in the long run HELL.

I've had a pair of potters for couple months now and haven't had problems yet. Haven't picked any acans, chalices , etc...do a heck of a job cleaning and picking at rocks!

I had a bicolor for 3 years no issues then added a queen she started eating zoas and the bicolor joined in :(

Sent from inside the shark tank!

My coral beauty is a turd. Been trying to get him outta the tank for months to no avail. Very very smart fish with a taste for Stylophora and a nip addiction for all other coral. I HATE that fish. Close to using a rod & reel and going fishin'. I'm not saying don't get one! It's simply dependent upon the specimen. They are like us in that way... each is an individual.

This is a total crap shoot, 100 people could say it works and you might end up with the one who eats corals. No matter what the poll results are this will always be a "at your own risk" fish IMO

Every Centropyge angel I've ever had for any length of time ended up nipping, some took a few years but it eventually happened. I suspect that a decent chunck of the people that report no problems don't keep their fish alive very long.

Been keeping dwarfs for about 16 years now, at one point having 6 of them -- currently have 4. There is one thing that they all have had in common, they LOVE to eat fleshy LPS. Other corals are slightly nipped at, but no real damage.

There are 2 dwarfs that I will never had again (( nipped at darn near everything )), a bi-color and lemonpeel.

I have a coral beauty and she’s an angel! I also have fleshy LPS….three open brains, and she has never touched them to my knowledge.

there's probably other variables besides individual fish such as how well fed they are, how much stuff they have to graze on, stress, etc etc

I figured there was a chance it may be a "crap shoot", but overall I was interested to see what the overall percentage would be. Supprisingly it's not a 50/50 which has been interesting feedback. I've enjoyed seeing what everyone has posted, as far as types of dwarfs angels being "good vs. bad" I would say its a crap shoot lol.

I agree completely. I feel that that was part of my success with the flame angel that I had. It was without a doubt well fed. :D only fat fish here

I disagree respectfully. I believe some individuals will nip no matter how much you try to alter behavior. At least this has remained true during my 30+yrs.

Without a doubt I'm sure some will just be stuck in their ways of nipping on corals, but I'd like to think that a hearty diet could help distract them from their favorite snacks :)
