IME, with enough time and opportunity, vast majority of dwarf Angels become a problem.

I currently have a flame angel who doesn't pick at anything. Everyonce in a while he will chase my sunburst anthias around. I used to have an Annularis Angel who did wipe out my acans (luckily I didn't have many). As long as I kept him full, by means of regular feeding and seaweed clips added everyday, he stayed away from all my SPS. Eventually I decided that right now the increased feeding and bio load on my tank wasn't worth having the annularis.

i keep a bi-color angel in my reef tank and he does not bother any coral or inverts/clams.he picks at rocks for pods and stuff.i do feed alot which im sure helps.i hope it stays this way he's a awesome fish and i love watching him swim around the rocks and stuff

i've had 2 angels with 2 different answers, pygmy was great and unfortunetly jumped the tank, i recently got a flame angel and after 3 weeks, i returned him to the LFS.

IME; it's not a matter of IF a dwarf angel is going to nip, but when and how badly. Sometimes it's something you can live with, especially if the fish is nipping at a mature colony that is large enough to hold it's own or even propagate faster & outpace the nipping. I've usually only had problems when a dwarf angel takes a liking to a small frag. :squigglemouth: For some reason, the yellow ones like Lemonpeel & Bicolor seem to be the worst.

I think another factor is tank size. Although dwarf Angels require less tank room then the larger angels, the smaller the box the higher the risk. I've tried african flameback and nope. I even tried the genicanthus Angels which are reef safe. I put in a 1" Lamarck and a small watanabei and they picked too. I've tried reef safe butterfly, it picked too. I have a 60 cube.

Agreed dodgerblew tank size does matter in all this. The bigger the box the happier they'll be.

I've had a cherub angel for 3 years and he has never touched a coral. Had a coral beauty in my old tank and got rid of him after a week.

So far my dwarf angle had not bothered anything at all.. Granted I have only had it now for 2 weeks.

Have beeen keeping reef aquariums +20 years. Had many dwarf angels and they live long. They pick at everything including SPS, sometimes clams and LPS. Mostly they pick on rocks. Never had issues since they go from picking area to the next continoulsy. I currently have flame, lemon peel, coral beauty and bi-color.
