I’m 29. I started in the Reefing hobby in 2007. Since then I’ve worked professionally as a full time public aquarist and Now run a service company taking care of 35 accounts and growing. Somehow I’ve managed to keep the passion alive with my Home Aquarium and never see myself having a home without a Reef tank.

30 years this June. Former pet store owner, past club president and belong to Many clubs and groups.

That depends. I’ve housed wild bettas for around eight years, had fancies for about 15. However for saltwater I’ve had this tank for around a year, maybe a year and a half. It’s so new, having marine equipment and tests and parameters as opposed to what my wilds and even domestics enjoyed.

I did freshwater planted tanks from 98 to 2005. I started my first reef tank in 2004 then just threw in the towel on the freshwater tanks lol. Hooked ever since

Always had tanks- my dad loved fishes so we always had tanks growing up- not till I got to college in 94 I started with saltwater though.
I would say tanks are a part of my whole life-

Got my first 5 gallon freshwater tank when I was 6 years old. Kept Freshies until I was 18. First saltwater tank was a 50 breeder. Had an underground filter, dolomite substrate and some bleached coral for decorations. FAMA magazine should get the credit for introducing the new way to keep saltwater in late 70’s /early eighties came out with at least a six part article called “Is It Time for a Change” and saltwater aquarium keeping was forever changed. Been in hobby over forty years and for anyone starting this hobby nothing better than a 50 gallon breeder as your first tank set up.

I’ll be 34 in a month, I’ve had FW since I could walk (those goldfish lived to be 16 and 18 years old and regularly made road trips between Cleveland, OH and Detroit, MI - they also spit water at you to say hi and enjoyed belly rubs). I’ve been studying the SW approach for a few years, collecting equipment and knowledge and got my tank wet just a week ago. I’m a noob!!

39 m. Got into the saltwater side of aquariums 11 years ago. Ordered a pizza and went i to the saltwater store next door. Walked out with a small tank the next day.

Since my daughter saw nemo when it came out. I had fresh water but changed over and never went back. When I younger, and a whole lot to learn. Remember this horrible lfs selling me boxes of reef bones and a prism skimmer to set up my 180. If I only knew
