Poll: How much more would you pay for quarantined fish?

You can’t do both. I would only buy from
Aquaculture fish that only sells aquaculture fish. The example I gave with Apple products is to show that they have a platform that is closed. You can’t install anything that is not in the Apple App Store.


This is like buying organic food. We as consumers have a choice you can pay more and get locally grown organic.
Or you can get regular farm food.
You have stores like Whole Foods that make a lot of money selling organic only food. People like to buy organic food for their families. Dead fish is bad for business and the more people we can help to have a healthy tank the better the hobby gets for everyone.

Id pay a premium but service need to match the quality. if they are in one system all together with medication (And held for 4 weeks). 5%

If quarantined (AKA separate tanks). For 4weeks+ 10-25% more.

it’s not that hard to do it yourself

I would love to buy quarantined fish that have been prooperly treated, but have not found an economic solutiom. I got a quote from aqua locker for about 1200 in fish. Post qt the fish would cost me close to 4k.

Since i know how to qt fish with high probability. I would choose to do this myself even though its a pain. I can put that money elsewhere ....especially if i was doing a build. The qt cost saved would cover most equipment cost in a new build.

Well AquaLocker didn't even have a real store and never even housed the fish. They WERE a reseller that had the wholesaler drop ship directly to the purchaser. They probably quoted you 4K just knowing you wouldnt do it and if you did they probably would have used the money to buy the necessary equipment. Also AquaLocker is no longer around. There are several Humble Fish approved QT'ed sellers that you may want to look in to if you would rather save yourself the trouble.

I personally get all my fish from @tsm corals who not only is a R2R sponsee but local to me as well. Having seen their multiple QT systems, and talking with them, I trust them 100% and trust them way more than I would trust myself. sure, I guess I COULD do it myself, but I don’t have the experience of trained professionals, I don’t have all the medications on hand, and I don’t have the space in my small house.
So to me, the small amount extra that the fish cost is worth it.
and FWIW, I got our pair of QT Bellus Angels from TSM for cheaper than other places had them listed for online without QT, so even paying “extra” I still saved money and got a better product.
