We have had our puffer for almost 5 years he has stopped eating and spends a lot of time sitting on the bottom of tank what should we try

Can we get pictures and video taken under white light? Also; what is your tanks water chemistry values and what other fish are in with it?

The white is sand we did a water change we have clown fish a hippo tang damsels cronies split tail and pajama cardinal and lots of colt coral and a tub worm all of which are fine

Well, it is breathing about twice normal speed and its coloration is off. I'd say it has a gill infection, but with nothing new added to the tank, I'm at a loss to say where that could have come from. The other fish in the tank all look o.k.?
You could try a 5 minute freshwater dip, just to see if it provides any relief (usually takes to the next day to see that).
