Possible gill fluke

@kevindo123 Long term bath is fine with acriflavine, as it is not toxic to fish like formalin is. Is this the only fish you have left now that the anthias is gone?

The clown fish is the only fish left. My smaller DT tank now is fallow as can be. I now worry my other DT that may get infected as I transferred a yellow tang from infected tank into it. I transferred the tang a few days before the clownfish showed symptoms.

Shhhh.... Clownfish is sleeping.

The clown fish breathing has reduce a little further but still not normal. Its still seems tired and is resting. I dimmed the lights in the room so it can rest. If he makes it to morning, I'll try to feed it.

Clownfish condition has not changed. It looks very weak and still resting at the bottom of the tank. Breathing is still not normal. Amazingly, he is trying hang in there. It has been 7 days since showing symptom. I did a 60% water /w Acriflavine change this morning.

Anything I can do to make it feel better?

Methylene Blue bath may help relieve the pain of all the tiny bite marks that the velvet trophonts inflicted. Unfortunately, you cannot mix MB with acriflavine so I would do it in a bucket for 60 mins and then return the fish to the acriflavine.

I didn't get a chance go back to the forum. I did not know Methylene Blue bath is good for relieving pain. The clownfish looks to be in very bad shape. Its on its side and was barely able to balance in the second QT tank. I did Paraguard dip instead as I noticed the fish was not stressed when its in there. It seems to be better now and I have transferred him in to another bucket of clean saltwater. He seems to be more active and swimming again. My plan is to keep changing to a clean bucket to get it enough oxygen into the gills /w airstone and heater. I did not know Methylene Blue bath helps with relieving pain. I will definately switch to Methylene Blue bucket in the next 8 hours. I'll be up tonight to look after him.

I just want to give another update the fish seems be alot better now and is swimming more in the bucket and is upright. Before this he was lying on his side and just breathing and not flapping his fins at all. Its a complete turn around. I should have done this earlier.

Is this after the Paraguard or MB bath?

After the Paraguard bath.

I just checked again. Its been an hour after paraguard bath. The clown fish is actually swimming in the bucket of fresh saltwater. Its a night and day difference. I'm not sure if its the paraguard that helped or simply aerated a small bucket to help with gill function helped.

I did heavily aerated the QT tank with wood air stone so either its the paraguard or not giving enough oxygen to gills in a QT larger tank.

So he was transferred to a "clean" bucket (all new water/equipment) following the Paraguard bath?

Correct. All new bucket with clean water. I do 50% water change every hour in the new bucket to make sure ammonia is not too high.

IF Paraguard works the same as formalin, then 1 or 2 transfers following a bath should clear a fish of brook. Of course, Paraguard being just as effective as formalin is a pretty big IF in my book.

Can you advise what the next action is? Should transfer him to a new bucket of saltwater with methylene blue for 60 minutes follow by a clean bucket of saltwater then lastly a bucket of paraguard?

What is duration between transfers?

Sounds like you've got a good game plan. I think 60 mins in-between transfers using the meds you mentioned should suffice. However, at some point you will need to put him in a clean QT (no meds) and just observe to see if any symptoms return.

I'm ready to transfer the fish to MB bath now. Before I do that here is a pic of him in the fresh saltwater bucket for 2 hours. I did two 50 % water changes already. He is actually much better then in the morning. He went from being listless and lying on the bottom of the tank to swimming upright again.

The clown was stressed out and was gaping for air after 20min bath in MB. I got him out as soon as I could but it was too late. He was listless on top of the water for a few minutes and passed away.
I used 50ppm solution it recommended. Maybe that was too high?

Thanks Humblefish for all your help. It seems you always here to support me when I needed help. I know we all learn from this and your good advice to QT should be followed.

It seems once a fish gets brook+velvet its seems very hard to treat. I will sanitize everything and start QT again.

My bad.... I forgot the 50ppm MB is only for 10 minute dip. I should have used a 3ppm dip for 60 mins. OMG... hopefully anyone reading this do not make the same mistake I did. Poor little clown...

That sucks, sorry for the loss. Thanks for sharing your mistake, it will help others be mindful to avoid doing the same.
