Tell me it isnt so. I believe my tang has ick. I don't have a QT tank set up Every fish looked great and still does besides my blue tang. don't really know what to do. There is about 14 fish in tank now. I don't live anywhere near a pet store to buy anything right now. Is it possible that it's only the tang.

If you’ve never quarantined, your tank probably carries ick. If you don’t have access to a QT and meds I suggest keeping parameters stable, feed a lot of high quality food and keep the fish as stress free as possible. It can definitely pull through this.

I bought 4 Chromis 2 weeks ago, all fish are good beside the tang. I thinking I will.try and find a 20 gallon and QT them all. I have about 14 fish total.

If you go that route you will have to let your display tank go fallow for 76 days because there is definitly ick in it now.

Looks more like velvet to me. Sorry but if it’s velvet all of your fish will probably die without treatment.

Amazon is your friend for fish meds delivered.

Sorry you feel that way about fish lives. I don’t know what to say about that :(

The last thing I want is a fish to die. but sometimes battles have to be picked 200 in fish or 2k in coral. I working on finding a tank now I can pull the tang. i have a 10 gallon but i assume the rest of fish have it as well.

I’ve removed coral and all rock from tanks several times to treat fish that I messed up without quarantine. I know it’s a pain, believe me.

I understand the investment, believe that too :)

I am sorry, it sounds like you are way overstocked.
Yeah I broke a 135 down because wanted to downsize tank. it's been running for 3 months and it's pretty stable. small call swing but other than that everything has been great. I have good equipment under the hood too.

There is no chance 14 fish will be ok in a 20 gal. You can use a large Rubbermaid tub if you don’t want a bigger glass tank for QT.

Yeah I going to get a 40 breader after work today. And this has never happened to me. so excuse the irrational thinking, because really don't know what to do

To the OP. You should slow down and not over react. More fish are killed due to stress than all pathogens combined. Neither ich or velvet will harm your coral.

I agree my Achilles tang gets Ick pretty much every few months for the past 6 years. I have 18 fish and several other tangs with him and all are fine. I have over 10k in corals and I don’t sweat it. Like others said if it’s ick slow down and feed plenty of good food and don’t add stress. You start pulling things out and that’s when it gets sideways on you. If it’s velvet then yes pull ALL fish out ASAP, corals are fine with ick or velvet in tank.

How big is the DT? The Tang's fins look beat up. Who is bullying him?

I noticed the tail fin looks a bit chewed up. He's definitely been on the receiving end of aggression, possibly territorial if the tank isn't large enough. This increased stress could cause Ich to show itself.

You have a beautiful display. But I wonder if a shallow tank was a good choice for a tang. As I understand it, while some fish like to be able to swim long horizontal distances, Tangs like to dive and need a taller tank to do so.
