Possible Ick

Yeah I going to get a 40 breader after work today. And this has never happened to me. so excuse the irrational thinking, because really don't know what to do

A back up plan is good. So get your 40G breeder.

However your best advice is to chill out and reduce your stress as well as don’t contribute a massive stress event to your fish. If they are breathing and acting normal, it is not an emergency. When they scratch & itch it is an indicator to observe closer, but not to jump to rash decisions.

I can deal with that. I can deal with loss of fish, I know that sounds bad but I don't want to loose my coral

CI wouldn't affect your coral.... Or did you mean you're going to take out the fish - treat all of them in a QT tank? Sorry the 'I can deal with loss of fish' suggests that you were just going to leave them in your tank - maybe I'm misunderstanding....

I noticed the tail fin looks a bit chewed up. He's definitely been on the receiving end of aggression, possibly territorial if the tank isn't large enough. This increased stress could cause Ich to show itself.

You have a beautiful display. But I wonder if a shallow tank was a good choice for a tang. As I understand it, while some fish like to be able to swim long horizontal distances, Tangs like to dive and need a taller tank to do so.
I planned to rehome the tangs.

All fish are acting fine, eating swimming normally. I guess the best thing to I'd garlic soak food and keep a eye on them.

I was going to take them to a petsmart or lfs
NOT PETSMART
Find a quality LFS.
Personally, I would drive 200 miles for my fish.
But that is me.
I think that 100 mines is a small price to pay for a fishes life.

Garlic soak is fine. Considering that it is an antioxidant for humans, it may provide well being. For certain, I have found garlic to stimulate appetite and quality food aids auto immune system. I highly suggest that you purchase live mussels, oysters and clams. In my experienc, I have seen enhanced appetite in fish from being feed live gut cavity bacteria from marine invertebrates which is a natural part of the marine food chain. My most pleasant surprise was the proliferation of filter feeders like flame scallops & sea apples..

If it’s just ich and considering your circumstances, and since they are all eating just feed them well and they will probably be fine. The hippo has some bite marks/ chunks missing from fins I would figure out who’s doing that.

This is a thread you should read and seriously consider the experienced wisdom of an accomplished reef keeper who has authored books on these things that are being discussed currently on this website.

Also, with respect to quarantine, you should read this current article on this website. Both articles have ongoing discussions with very savvy people many with more degrees than a thermometer. I stole that from @Paul B. Thank you Paul.

Whatever your feelings about quarantine, that tank is beautiful but too small for almost any tang. They may clear the infection on their own right now, but especially the hippo will be constantly stressed, even without being attacked like it appears to be now. I agree with rehoming the tangs to someone with a bigger tank who is willing to take them knowing that they carry parasites and has a plan to deal with that.

I am in the process of catching him so I can rehome him but he is smart. I have a fish catcher, but no luck with it so far

I had this problem - and was ready to tear down the tank - I tried this and it worked - put rock on top and around the sides of the trap (except not the back window - and obviously not in front of the 'door'. Leave the trap open and feed the fish in the trap for a day or so - then when its used to it - drop down the door.

If you’ve never quarantined, your tank probably carries ick. If you don’t have access to a QT and meds I suggest keeping parameters stable, feed a lot of high quality food and keep the fish as stress free as possible. It can definitely pull through this.

+1 I have a Hippo Tang that got ich from Stress (that I caused of course). I fed it well and the ich went away, and the fish got fat ;-).

I run my tank ich management style and I know ich is present. I only have two tangs but when I added them they both developed white spot initially. I got them feeding right away and within a few days all spots are gone and now the fish are perfectly fine. Despite tang being quite susceptible to white spot, I know they can beat it.

Did water change today, fish hasn't got any worse, all other fish are fine. I'm hoping for the best. I have read and talked to numerous people that have been through this and it went away. finger crossed
