Possible outbreak?

Hey all, I've got a question on what steps I should take to prevent any outbreak on my DT.

Earlier this week, my kole eye tang ended up being cut on one of my live rock and over a few days his color became less vibrant and resulted in him being dead today when I woke up.

Now tonight at feeding time, I've noticed my black angler has some white spots on him. He also refused food tonight.(he is kind of a finicky eater).

My question is should I be worried about the anglers well being? And if so what steps should I take?

Yes I had a velvet outbreak in December and ended up losing all my fish. Left the DT fallow for about 85 days, and have been qt'ing every new addition for 28 days if no problematic signs.

The tang was doing great in my tank, I guess the cut he got brought him down and out real quick.

The angler I've had in the DT since April. He has been doing great as well. I did have a shortage on Feeder shrimp so had to give him Feeder fish for a few days, could that have him not eating?

Was the feeder fish healthy? Was it a freshwater fish or a marine? When was the last time he ate?

Can you throw up a picture and maybe we can tell if there's ich.

I had an out break last October and lost a few fish, At that point I started feeding what is in the below picture plus metroplex and the surviving fish got healthy again, even my blue hippo that had spots made it.

What is your feeding schedule also? Cause anglers can be over fed and not accept food for a while.

Yea I make sure that any Fish I'm feeding my Fish has no symptoms or signs of any illness. It was a freshwater rosy red (I know I shouldn't feed them FW fish, but I have limited options in my area and he never took to frozen). He ate friday, but it was a larger rosy red so I'm hoping his appetite is decreased from that. When I get home tonight I'll try and snap a good close up of him.

Nope everyone else seems to be doing fine. The anglers not acting strange he just is covered in white specks, which I was hoping he was more immune to it since he is a scale less fish.

What is your feeding schedule also? Cause anglers can be over fed and not accept food for a while.

I try to feed him every other day, I give him either two ghost shrimp or 1 Feeder fish. Hopefully it was just a bloated day lol

The fish is a heavier meal that takes longer to digest... But I don't like hearing about possible current spots and a history of ich.

Yes, those are all invert safe additives. I think all my preds "go off" their food at one point or another. I'm pretty sure it's because they're full. I feed them all on Mon, Wed and Fri and if someone ate a lot the last feed, they don't always go for it with gusto the next. Don't worry too much yet.

Have you tried converting them to frozen yet?

Yea the appetite loss isn't worrying me as much. It's a black angler so I mean it's always had a few spots, nothing major, but now he seems speckled in them.

I had the same lionfish( My qt tank had an Ammonia spike and he didn't make it ).

I've tried with frozen, they just haven't caught on as much. I think the Angler likes to stalk his prey more as he won't even take food off the feeding stick. My eel however will eat anything that comes in his path that he knows isn't a tank mate

Only a few people have gotten those lions to live past a year. They are not an easy fish.

Well, good news! (Or beginners luck). My anglers spots are clearing up. He looks a lot better tonight than he did this morning. I'm still gonna keep an eye on him and get some prevention medicine just in case. I have a bare HT. I hope he gets better before he gets worse!

Ich spots come and go like that... that's how they work. It's just a stage in it's progression. When they're on your fish, they are feeding. They leave to reproduce and will be back with greater numbers in tow. If it's Ich and he's not eating, it's more likely related to that than him eating a fish instead of his normal shrimp.

Well this morning my angler is sitting on the sand (very unlike himself), and breathing heavy. I have a bad feeling he won't be alive by the time I get home

And unfortunately when I got home my angler had died as well. I'm trying to figure out what happened. I know the tang cut himself on the rocks and then he died, but what could have caused a die off like this?

My remaining tank mates are a snowflake eel, two urchins, and a brittle starfish. I don't want any more losses so hoping someone has some good advice that can help me.

So is ich the main possibility? I've noticed more little white things floating on the glass than usual, but didn't know if that was attributed to the zoo plankton I feed my starfish.
