so this morning i noticed little white specs all over my glass on my DT i didnt think much of it at first but then i noticed they seem to be moving around and i havent dosed any pods or anything plus i thought those were bigger than tinny white spots. i attempted to get a picture but it was a tough one to get.

so i know they are good for the tank but if i wipe them off the glass will i kill them? or should i just let them do there thing for a couple days to build up.

There may be a couple little flatworms there too. Is this a new tank? Don't worry, everything is great, you're good. I'm just being curious.

This is the very reason my glass gets dirty! I hate disturbing them.

They'll be perfectly fine if you clean the glass. You are removing one of their food sources, put there is lots in there. They are so light bodied, they'll just float right off as you wipe.

The one that that really points to this being copepods are the two shapes that are present. The blue arrow with the doubled body type shape, is a female with eggs. The single little teardrop dot is either a female without eggs or a male. There should always be both. I can also see their little "tails" (caudal rami) in the first pic.

yes its a new tank. almost 2 months old now. the picture you posted is definitely what i am looking at on my glass. i did get a couple new corals from a established reef about a week ago now. they must have rode in with them.

also well i have you hear if my water parameters are good nitrate 0, ph 8.0, alk 2.5 meg/l ,ammonia 0 is it still neccesary to do a water change? its been 2 weeks sense the last but i did 90 gallons worth over 3 days trying to get rid of a algae bloom. my nitrates got to about 10ppm after the bloom but have sense been 0

Po4 level?

i dont have a po4 test right now. i was going taking it to the pet store for that but havent been there sense beating the algae bloom. the last time i had it checked it was 0.04ppm and iv been running seachem phosgard for about a month now.

Sounds like your right on target.
If it's an algae remember one established it really only needs light :)
Photosynthesis is the main energy source once settled

oh believe me I have learned my lesson with algae already lol I made the mistake of not curing my pukani fully my tank cycled in 2 weeks and at 3 weeks I got a algae bloom from hell. The tank was so green you couldn't see through it.

I ran a ton of carbon and phosgard for a week. It would clear up then get worse all over. I finally sucked it up and bought a uv sterilzer and changed 90 gallons of water over 3 days and my tank has been crystal clear with good parameters sense. Funny thing about it was the water was that green for about 2 weeks and because I was running the phosgard and didn't have the lights on hardly at all for a bit. I had starved all the green hair algae off the rocks so when the water finally cleared it didn't even look like it happened!

So just to be clear am I okay waiting another week on a water change with my parameters being where they are at?
