Well, it seems like the diamond tail flashers aren't easy to come across. I have found a few pintail fairy though. Does anybody have both or have seen both in person? Which in your opinion is the better looking of the two? Also, which will do better with the fish I have above. Including my new exquisite from DD.

NY Aquatic is the only regular source, but still sporadic.

I have a pintail and have kept a diamond tail, but your question is highly subjective. :)

Either would be fine.

Well, if the only place to get a diamond flasher is NY Aquatics then I'll probably get the pin tail. I ordered from them twice and both times the fish never even made it out of acclimation. Bad thing is they're barely a state away from me.

I love my exquisite he's transitioning supermale

I've had really good luck with NyAquatics for what it's worth

As have I. I am on my second diamondtail from them, which I have had for 4 months. The first one did well until it quickly ate a drop of undried superglue that dropped in the tank while glueing corals, glued it's mouth shut, and gradually starved.

Wow that's a crazy choice happening! Sorry! :/

I've probably purchased 2 dozen fish from them over the past few months and they've all been great and he's honored the only DOA

Sorry if this was already stated but do you have a sand bed and how deep if you do?

But not needed for Paracheilinus (flashers)

Right, but @Bryon are you still planning on a melanarus as a late addition? Didn't know if you've changed your thoughts since the first few posts on that fish. Also I totally agree on African exquisites, had one a year or so go and it was a great and peaceful fish

I'm not 100% sure what the exact list will end up being just yet. I'm hoping for a nice colorful and peaceful varity at this point.
I do have sand, but it's about an inch to an inch and a half deep.

I finally got a lineatus, rhomboid, and pintail a couple weeks ago. The lineatus and rhomboid have been constant swimmers since the moment they were put in the tank. Beautiful fish. The pintail on the other hand seems to hide all day (at least from the time I get home from work). He'll come out and eat anytime I feed, but he just doesn't seem right. He kind of flutters/hovers diagonally the whole time he's going for food. He doesn't dart around like everyone else. Is this normal for a pintail? Like I said, I don't see him out at all to notice if he swims like that or just while feeding. Even after he eats he stays close to the bottom and drags his tail in the sand while he hovers around.

That's definitely not normal behavior for a pintail, he should be swimming as well. Are the other wrasses showing aggression toward it? Does it look pinched behind it's head? Did you treat for parasites?

I haven't seen any aggression by anyone. I didn't notice behind the head. I'll have to check when I get home and feed them. I didn't treat for parasites.
What would the pinch mean if it is?
