It was a big deal at work after we started a lean six sigma process and monitored every business move. Web usage was at the top of the list in lost productivity. I personally did not care as long as our department got the work done. It was getting more and more difficult to be flexible when report stats showed an average of 2-3 hrs per employee of lost productivity. We all have done it especially around the holidays. Related work cost were skyrocketing, and the business moved towards layoffs as cost cutting measures. It became a very difficult conversation right before the holidays and in an industry that took 6 months to a year to find a similar paying job. The bottom 15% were cut and web management came into play. Im out, retired, and hated to see the next phase of employee management come into play. The newest consideration included cell phone management.
