Potters angel

LRS and Nori strips :)

Potters is a nice angel but not the easiest to keep. Initially it may refuse prepared foods, preferring to graze the rocks. Tricky to QT. Small ones will be easily intimidated by larger tankmates so watch for that. Ideally you’d put it into its own tank with live rock and try lots of different foods. I got mine started on nutramar ova, which is no longer available sadly. Brine is often irresistible and a good starter food.

Feeding is the key to success with potters. Shy at first but begins to graze. Once out and grazing, try to find its' niche.

Beautiful fish you have there sir.

Hope my lfs comes through for me this week with one. They have been awesome with my requests so far:)
Thank you :) I've had her since September 4th. She went through full quarantine along with several other fish and did great throughout the whole process. Has been in the display since beginning of october. Eats great, grazes all day, never touched a coral :)

Trying to get these guys to stay still for a pic or two is quite the chore !

I have been looking for this fish for two years lol and finally had my lfs order it in and it’s been shy so I have not tried feeding yet any foods I should try first
Are you running it through quarantine?
If so frozen food soaked in general cure and seachem focus worked well for me. Ate 20 minutes after adding her to the qt tank already running copper.

The one I had never touched a coral either. Really was a fantastic fish. I had to downsize and sold it with the setup in 2009. Seems like they're starting show up online more often lately. My lfs guy says he will have one next Tuesday for me:)

Which lfs? I'm in Kane county IL. You're not far from me at all.

When I got mine many months ago, I actually ordered a pair. I lost the smaller one in QT but still have the one. Mine came to me already eating mysis from Pacific Island Aquatics. Might be worth a try as well. Mine now eats any and everything and seems to always have a string of poo following him. ;Facepalm

While shy to some degree, mine also enjoys getting into my clown pair's space and harassing them. They of course aren't having it and chase him away.

Potter’s love to graze on rock as mentioned previously. Mine eats a variety of meaty, nori etc. But it prefers nori & picking on the rocks .
In your display. Do you have other herbivores in your display? Other nori eaters? That can contribute to its shyness. One advantage of a QT is not having competition for food.

Interesting, mine eats like a pig (anything) but has no interest in nori.

I got it started on live worms, black and white, and I think live brine shrimp.

Got mine from DD so it was already eating some frozen. IIRC, in QT I fed it brine quickly followed by mysis. It's been a model citizen in my tank for a little under a year now but I've had very few corals. Just added some acans today, so fingers crossed.
