Power outage - profilux 3.1ex won't boot

Hi, I suffered a several hour long power outage this evening and now my profilux will not boot... well, to be totally accurate, it makes it past the boot sequence where the fish swims across the screen but then displays only a blank screen with no menu options and is unresponsive to the buttons. No connection to my profilux touch and not found on the LAN connection either, seems completely offline. Everything lights up and there is a flashing alarm but the touch screen has gone back to German and does not have any of my settings loaded (is not communicating I guess)

Any ideas? I have power cycled several times for 5 min each time, same result.

Can you reach it through GCC and USB cable?

Have you saved your settings and sensor data? Was it thunder and lighting that cause the power outage? Or any spikes on the grid?

No it cannot be contacted through any interface. It was on a power bar that got disconnected accidentally by a family member earlier this evening. I figured it out when I discovered I was not getting updates by email.

And I cannot remember the last time I saved the settings to be honest. I know they are not up to date at last save point.

Multiple tries on the emergency tool did not work, I will go to the support forum. Thanks for your help!

After multiple tries to connect with GCC, for some reason it has finally allowed me to connect over RS232. Will not let me transfer the old settings (says device not compatible) and no display on the unit at all.

thanks for all your suggestions! Nothing is working to restore the screen. I can login now via GCC and set it back up and the functions are working now but the screen is still blank. Very odd because it has a display on boot!

At work - I have two 3.1 that have missed their screens too. It has been so for a long time. It is very irritating but - if you can reach your 3.1 with GCC you have a possibility to use a virtual screen - a virtual copy of the screen. See if you can find it in your left part of GCC. With that - you can still do calibrations and see if MyGHL is active. If you do not find it - I´ll start a 3.1 and take a screen picture.

Thanks, yes I'm familiar wih that area. I'll try that and get back to you. Thanks for all your help, you are much better than the GHL support forum lol no response there at all yet.

Connectivity is not the issue, my network is working just fine. I am connected over USB now and able to program the unit, the screen just did not come back and for some reason I was unable to load in the old settings, so now I have to start all over.

Oh well, my tank is not even up and running yet, just have everything set up in anticipation.

This is a bit concerning though.... i made the choice to go GHL on the basis of solid and reliable hardware. If this is how the unit reacts to a simple power cut I am not sure solid and reliable are the right words!

I have run GHL products for many years in many different configurations - (that´s the reason why I can help you

) never been out for this after a power failure. During Thunder and lighting I have missed many electronic devices - but never because a simple power cut. Make a ticket here Was it a new unit?

No it was used but was working perfectly. Should that matter?

It sounds like it some software problem - is it possible to do a firmware upgrading (or downgrading) ?

It was most if there was any guarantees. But make a support ticket with them - I think they can help you. especially if it is a software problem.
