Ok so what all do I need or can do for when i have a power outage anyone have a setup of something like that incase it happens?

I have a large battery bank that will last me about 84 hours, then it is generator time.

No link sory. It is a diy solution where I added several large deep cycle batteries to a standard UPS system. Basically I increased the capacity of the UPS by 20 fold by adding my own batteries.

There are lots of videos on YouTube that show how to expand the capacity of a large UPS.

Did you have to take it apart to hard wire it?
what do you use to recharge the batteries?

Awesome thanks!

Kind of. It already has a provision to remove and replace the batteries. The batteries that come with it are connected with wire leads that are bolted onto the batteries. I simply added more larger batteries to the system. I also used a long heavy cable so that I could locate the new batteries in the basement for space considerations.

What do you use to recharge the batteries?
The UPS handles all of the charging of the batteries just like it was never modified.

Sounds doable. Do you have the specs for the deep cycle batteries you used if you don’t mind?
Thanks

This is not the exact same battery but it has the same specs. 200 amp hours, 12 volt, AGM.

Renogy Deep Cycle AGM Battery 12 Volt 200Ah, 3% Self-Discharge Rate, 2000A Max Discharge Current, Safe Charge Most Home Appliances for RV, Camping, Cabin, Marine and Off-Grid System, Maintenance-Free

I have four of them tied together. They are controlled by this CyberPower PR2200LCD which also has four 17 amp hour batteries in it. So that is 868 amp hours total.

Edit: sorry I forgot the link to the batteries.

Oh wow, you didn’t end up replacing the batteries in the cyber power unit?
They won't fit in there ;)
They are added to the existing batteries. You could eliminate the original batteries, but I didn't see a benefit to that. They are wired together in "parallel" I think. So the voltage stays the same but the capacity goes up. Don't quote me on that, I am pulling this from memory.

Interesting....

i was wondering is there any pc ups that is capable to hold return pump several hours, it's all i need when power goes out, all other equipment is not that critical if not running, but, i'd like to have at least return pump for circulation...

But, unable to found anything....

Another thing that I do to extend battery runtime is to power down non essential equipment when the power is interrupted with the apex.

To do this you need to have your apex plugged into an non protected (no backup power) outlet with the aulillury wall adapter. This does not come with the apex but does come with the apex el. This will allow you to enable power monitoring for the apex head unit.

Then you add this line of code to anything that you want to turn off during a power outage and not run off of the batteries to extend your run time.

If Power Apex Off 002 Then OFF

This will turn off that outlet after 2 minutes of no power is sensed to the apex power adapter. The apex will still run if it is connected to an EB832 power bar via an aquabus cable.

I chose to use a 2 min interval to eliminate any unnecessary shutdowns do to false alarms from the occasional power flicker.

After power is restored to the apex power supply on the unprotected outlet, the outlets will resume their original programing.

You can create your own super-sized UPS with larger batteries and an inverter charger that will switch to battery power like a UPS would should the power go out.

Another option is something like this with their home panel.

Portable generator for me
Also:
Glow sticks (artificial light)
Foot warmers (heat packs)

Ok, thank you, but you just gave me a heart attack.....

Im looking for something cheap, this is waaaay out of question ;)

The only problem with cheap is that it won't provide days or even hours of runtime.

I do have 2 air pumps with stones that run off of 2 D cell batteries each and are good for 3 days on one set of batteries. This is a bare minimum emergency solution though.
