It's pricey, but i can keep it indoors, it doesnt run on gas, it's super quiet and can keep my 160 on life support for a couple of days. Plus I can recharge it with solar panels if need be. Now if is a long term outage, then I bust out my honda gas generator. but I can only run that during the day because it is loud.

Automatic switchover + long endurance + batteries = expensive.

If you settled for long endurance only then an Alps propane generator and a filled propane tank would set you back "only" $800 or so but it'd power a return pump for a good long time.
