Well, I know I have Ich in my DT...so dropping to hypo after tons of research on it. Ordered a 50 watt UV Sterilizer and some medication I didn't have on hand. I'm setting up QT right now and I have Copper Power, Hanna checker for Copper (really didn't want to treat Powder Blue without Hanna Checker), I purchased black worms to help with nutrition plus vitamins and fish oil, I have Ich-X, PraziPro and Odin-ex on hand for medication and awaiting my dip solutions and Microbacter 7 to help with bacteria in DT as well as seeding QT to be delivered in a day or 2. I'm trying to have everything on hand that I could possibly need.hi please try to provide more tank info,in qt? how long, params, best wishes
let's call some expert help. @Jay Hemdal @vetteguy53081
Oh, and my parameters are good, been testing in the morning and evening, no spikes and I have a batch of baked baking soda ready incase of PH issues.Well, I know I have Ich in my DT...so dropping to hypo after tons of research on it. All fish are eating well, no losses, no corals or invertebrates in DT and little to no algae.
Anything else I should mention so you can get a good idea of what I have and can accomplish with it?

When you say parameters are good- and assuming this is a newer tank, What are your numbers for ammonia-nitrate-ph-salinity-temp and What test kit are you using?Oh, and my parameters are good, been testing in the morning and evening, no spikes and I have a batch of baked baking soda ready incase of PH issues.
Based on the pictures and your description, that is Cryptocaryon, ich. You should get them into full Copper Power right away. What I do is calculate a 50% dose, then dose it, allow it to mix for a couple of hours, then test the water. Assuming the test reads 50%, I dose the second half and let it mix for another couple of hours and then run a test to confirm. It will take up to three days before you start to see improvements.Well, I know I have Ich in my DT...so dropping to hypo after tons of research on it. I'll grab a bottle of nitrofing bacteria while I'm at the LRS in a minute. I don't think I can use my DT water because it has Ich...is this correct?Based on the pictures and your description, that is Cryptocaryon, ich. You should get them into full Copper Power right away. PH-8.0When you say parameters are good- and assuming this is a newer tank, What are your numbers for ammonia-nitrate-ph-salinity-temp and What test kit are you using?
It does look like ich rather than velvet as in this instance, The number of dots can be counted whereas if velvet- would be infinite. Behavioral symptoms such as flashing, scratching, twitching and heavy breathing are other indicators of ich.
A quarantine tank or temporary tank will need to be setup. CopperSafe will be the best course of treatment being less harsh for a tang over pure copper. I WILL EMPHASIZE THAT WITH COPPER TREATMENT, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU OBTAIN A COPPER TEST KIT AND A GOOD KIT TO MONITOR COPPER LEVELS DURING THIS PROCESS.
-OTHER TREAMENT METHODS ARE Hyposalinity, Chloroquine, Copper or Tank Transfer Method. The fallow (fishless) period for starving ich out of a Display Tank is 45 days. Many reefers have raised the tank temperature to 27C/80.5F which may shorten the Ich fallow period to just 4 weeks (dont hold me to this)
take a water sample with you to LFS and have them retest those numbers if theyre not using API kitsPH-8.0
Ammonia-.10ppm
Nitrite-0ppm
Nitrate-.25ppm
Going hypo, so SG is now at 1.019
Temp-77
I'm using a Master Saltwater Test Kit...I know, they aren't the most popular. I'm saving money to buy Hanna Checkers, but they ain't cheap. I test multiple times a day, I feel my readings (while perhaps not 100% accurate) are a good reflection of my tank parameters.
I'll start the copper dosing regimen you suggested as soon as I get back from the LRS with the extra supplies I need.
They were actually using an API test kit...their numbers matched minetake a water sample with you to LFS and have them retest those numbers if theyre not using API kits
He's been advised of that already and just came back with LFS with needed meds (assumed).Put them in a quarantine tank ASAP for it won’t spreed you anything else and you should buy some medicine for them online or at you local fish store but usually tangs are very Vulnerable to diseases.
I purchased what I needed to set up an effective QT system. How long do I let the filter set in the glass with the Microbacter 7? I have some tank water in the cup with a ton of Microbacter 7. I'll place that sponge in my filter I have running in my QT system. Here are some pictures for reference. I haven't added any copper because I actually have 2 kinds. I have Copper Power and I have Fritz Coppersafe which is chelated copper and I'm not sure if my Hanna Checker reads that type of copper medication as well. I know Powder Blues tend to be sensitive to copper.Based on the pictures and your description, that is Cryptocaryon, ich. You should get them into full Copper Power right away. I started Coppersafe last night beginning with a half dose and checking it with my hanna checker for accurate. I have my Powder Blue and today I added my Blue Tang (which I actually think may be blind...seriously). I'll up the dose of coppersafe to 1.75 over the next 2 days and I believe stabilize it at 2.0ppm, correct? When you say parameters are good- and assuming this is a newer tank, What are your numbers for ammonia-nitrate-ph-salinity-temp and What test kit are you using?
